Keeper - Jordan Archer returned to Spurs but Matt Ingram did enough in the final few games of last season to deserve a chance the chance to claim the No1 jersey. If it doesn't work out there should be plenty of young keepers available to bring in on loan (eg Fielding, Heaton, Archer) Full Backs - Basey, Harryman and Foster (?) out - Arnold in. Although Basey and Foster didn't feature much last season Harryman was an asset in the second half of the season and hopefully gets a chace at QPR. Good to have Marvin back fit as he brings some pace and athleticism to the back line. Dunne was much improved after he was able to settle at left back and not get played across the whole back line (and Sam Wood to deputise if needed). Centre backs - Winfield out, Fletcher in. Shame big Dave moved on (but good luck to him with the Shrews) as our other centre halves are either just starting out (Stewart, Kortney, Fletcher) or in the twilight of their careers (Leon and the Doc). One from Stewart/Kortney with one from Doc/Leon looks a decent pairing with an obvious replacement for whichever ones Gaz gives the shirts to to start with Wide players - Gaz, Joel, Bruno out, Paris Cowan Hall in. Sam Wood and Paris look likely starters but little depth. Wood very reliable and based on the little I've seen of PCH he looks like he might do a job at this level. Lee Angol looked lightweight last season so hopefully a spell on loan and another pre-season will have toughened him up. Centre midfield - little change from last season. Scowen the find of the season, the Spring of the last 3 months of last season and the ever reliable Lewis provide a solid central three. Can Jesse Kewley-Graham and Max Kretchmer step up when required and can Matt Bloomfield find his fitness again. Up front - Oli (?) out and Pittman, Craig in. Last season McClure showed he could play and score at this level, now he needs to show he can keep fit for most of the season. Hopefully the good Morgan will outweigh the frustrating Morgan (and not needlesly anger the opposition). Sounds as though JPP was a mix of excellent and poor at Oxford, as he was at AP before - needs to show more consitency, but will have competition for a place. Kuffor lacks quality but is wholehearted and a season where Junior Morias needs to step up. Craig offers experience and hopfully a wise head. Manager - first full season for Gaz. Hopefully can build on the momentum from the second half of the season. Players clearly want to play for him and hopefully he'll be able to tap up his extensive list of ex colleagues for the odd loan player. The dream scenario is that he takes us and keeps us in the 3rd division before being enticed away by Blackburn. Apologies to those players I've missed out and good luck to Joel, big Dave and the loanees from last season
And so another season begins and the wait is at last over.I havn't felt so optimistic for several seasons and can see us finishing just outside the play-offs which would be fantastic after all the troubles of the last few seasons.Long live rock'n'roll football!
