They are share holders mate, nothing more. They have no input into the day to day running of the club, don't sit on the board and are pretty much non existent other than having a voice (small and insignificant) at any share holders meetings. It's only the reflected glamour of being a share holder and the potential financial benefit of selling their stakes in the future that has them hanging around right now.
