Tried loads of different Vodkas, Gins, brandies & any other alcoholic freebies I could get down my throats at the Good Food Show exhibition last weekend. Stand out Vodka was Marshmallow. Got pissed off with the craft beer, baldy headed, hipster bearded types who had "given up a career in law", or similar, to start their own micro brewery, telling me how I should "interpret the taste of their hops". **** off, take a look at my gut & pour me a decent sized taster, you middle class bandwagon jumping ****.
Marshmallow vodka !!! Toasted flavour? (I can't quite think what marshmallows taste like to be honest) Craft hipster micro brewers are a very special breed!!!
So where are you going for your Christmas sermon? As in which church (kind of like where you were brought up I suppose). And, not including consuming masses of chocs n pressies n beer, how's everyone celebrating the birth of our lord? That's what xmas is about after all. So, as it's allowed now, what, in your opinion, is the best thing about Christianity? (It's ok if you say Xmas presents).
We're celebrating the birth of Santa. By eating a lot, drinking a lot, and avoiding any religious bollocks.
It was toasted marshmallow. Thank the Mrs for that, she was listening, I was tasting. You could smell the marshmallow as you necked it, didn't get the vodka til it hit your throat. Top drink, didn't stretch to a bottle though. Too much **** to lump about.
I've been saving this for a number of years and am tempted to open it this Christmas but might hold off a bit longer.
That thought has crossed my mind a time or two, to be honest. I could have bought some vintage port on sale recently but I didn't bother because I'm not sure I'll live long enough for it to mature properly. I'm not sure I'll live long enough for me to mature properly, either!
I seem to remember there was a saying that if your son was born in vintage year for port, you should buy him a bottle or case depending on ones financial situation. You should then give it to him on his 21st birthday as the wine would be ready and so would he. As I understand it, the bottle should be laid flat or almost flat to prevent the cork from drying out and as the port is unfiltered and contains sediment, it should be rotated a quarter turn every month to keep the sediment from becoming too solid. This is the only bottle I have. I had some Warres vintage port but unfortunately, they are now the Ghosts of Christmases Past.
Ooo...now that is the type of attention to detail that's floats my alcoholic boat ! (In the less cultured end of town I put my sloe gin next to the dog food in the garage so I'd remember to give the bottles a shake when I feed the dogs! )
So did you get it for your son? Mines in one of those kilner jars in a cupboard in the hallway. Next to Chazz's lead...
Hours of sloe pricking eh Chazz. I may take my missus to the Bombay Gin place up the road from me at Whitchurch. I fancy go at making my own botanic mix.
I didn't prick actually I stuffed a chopstick in and went straight through to get the hardness thoroughly removed Quite moist and mushy after that so you can shove them wherever you need them then. Covered in sugar naturally Worth a try, although you do end up sticky and the whole place needs cleaning afterwards
