Anyone got any idea of credible rivals in the 2m division to face Un De Sceaux? Cant think of much at the moment! As an aside- if Cue Card or Al Ferof ran in this years Champion, would they have beaten Dodging Bullets?
Cue Card would have, not sure about Al Ferof though. Beating Somersby a length is not good form for me. Connections of Champagne Fever must have been kicking them self when they seen the result and the 2 favourites flop
He tips up lots of horses in every race, and whichever one wins the RP brag like he is some sort of genius. But if you backed everyone of his selections you would lose money to a level stake
Im not really one to follow tipsters, plenty of good info on the forum here.i do check on hugh taylor though especially on the flat.
Shergs, I've just realised that our ensuing interesting exchanges don't really belong on this thread so have moved them to a new thread Betting Strategies
Couldn't find it any lists so I've just approached Paddy Power for a price about THE NEW ONE for the Arkle. Will update this when they email me back because I might have to get involved. Anyone hazard a guess on what they might offer?
The New One is far to slow for any race over 2 miles at the festival. A horse also needs even more tactical speed for 2 mile chasing than hurdling, as they don't normally set as fast a pace over the bigger obstacles, so horses usually have more left in the tank near the end, so a good turn of foot is even more important. Something The New One doesn't have. Plus he doesn't look to me like he has the size to improve over fences. I fancy he'll be aimed at the World Hurdle next season, the race he should have been running in for the last 2 years. I'm sure they'll quote you any price you like for the Arkle. Anything less than 50/1 would be a joke
Don't do it Drever! . Twister needs to straighten out his jumping over the little uns first. 14/1 with Betway for the World Hurdle and I wouldn't touch that until I see him jump straight and I'm a fan of the horse.
I made the enquiry because I saw this on the sportinglife website... "THE NEW ONE has perplexed Nigel Twiston-Davies with his under achievement in the Champion Hurdle, as the gelding has come out of the race in good heart and moved more than satisfactorily in his subsequent light exercise. Although chasing almost certainly awaits the gelding in the future, his immediate attention is focused on the Aintree Hurdle in which he's looking to record back-to-back successes." ...and it had me thinking that if he is sent chasing, it would surely be the Arkle where he would likely be the highest rated hurdler in the field.
If he goes chasing, he will go in the JLT or the RSA. There is no way he has any chance in The Arkle. Look at Peddlars Cross a few years back, because he was a good 2 mile hurdler people thought he would be good for the Arkle but he lacked the tactical speed a 2 mile chaser needs
