Sheff Wed haven't paid their players, again. Röhl will move onto bigger things in the summer (deservedly so) and they'll be back in a relegation fight next season. That squad is shocking and Röhl is the only reason they aren't in trouble this season.
I'll maintain this until I die, the only way for non parachute payment clubs to compete is to buy cheap, develop and sell and then repeat the cycle at a higher price point, while also developing academy players to be sold. Too many clubs trying to punch above their weight financially and it leads to major problems. I think Barry Bannan is a good championship player, very limited but would get in the majority of squads in the league. However, he's reportedly on crazy wages and they'd be much better off having 2 solid players taking up his wages.
I was talking to a Wednesday fan yesterday. He says it isnt the first time. He reckons they are owned by a mega rich family, but it is the unpopular son who has it and when he upsets them they turn the funds off No idea if that is true but it makes me laugh to think he has been a naughty boy and does get his pocket money
Jesus. Farke brought 3 defenders on in the 86th minute while chasing a goal and called the result a 'good point' in his interview afterwards. Shocked by their recent form I thought they'd win the league at a canter especially after the Sheff Utd away win, but I suppose I shouldn't be because they did exactly this last season.
