TBH it's a good result for us as we need you fired up for Leeds. I'd much rather you win than them next Friday.
I think we all still expect Leicester to win the league, but today’s result will have them looking over their shoulders a little bit. I am even more disappointed with Tuesday’s loss now, because those 3 points would have put us 8 behind Leicester, a win Tuesday would then have put us 5 behind them and then a win by Leeds next Friday and another win for us (Millwall) would have seen us 2 points behind them. As I said in an earlier post, unexpected results will happen, I just hope they don’t happen to us. There’s still time for them to bottle it.
Spot on ... we'll be smarting from the nature of this defeat ... and Leeds will have to come at us, which suits us way more than teams sitting back looking to hit us on the break ... which, fair play to Boro, they did perfectly today ...
Leicester have lost the same amount of games as us, and yet are 11 points ahead. I have zero expectation that this loss will derail their saunter to 1st place tbh. We could really do with them beating Leeds on Friday too.
Yeah. Today hasn't at all changed my view that we won't be catching them. But it has made me hopeful that they will put on a performance against Leeds - because they won't want to lose two in a row.
Leicester lost at home to Leeds too. You’d think they’d be well up for the chance at revenge anyway. Should be an interesting game because Leeds are flying atm. 8 wins on the bounce, 19 goals scored and 1 conceded.
Well we went from town to city, not that anybody.really felt much different, apart from probably bigger councillor allowances etc. Most still say 'going into town' etc!!
Beating Hull/Millwall and having Leicester beat Leeds would put us a full result clear, which would be enormous. But that requires Leicester to actually score against Leeds, something that has only occurred once in their past eight league matches. What a demented season this is.
For a sense of how ridiculous this season is: the 2011-12 promotion team was in 2nd place after 32 matches, more than a result clear of 3rd. They had eight fewer points than we have now...
That would be crazy. I'm a lifelong Leeds fan living in Southampton, so whatever happens I'm in for a lot of stick...
In a way yes, a draw being only one point is marginally better than a loss, when actually it’s often a good result. But this might encourage teams to play more defensively, like when it was 2pts for a win, leading to more boring defensive away performances.
