It wouldn't be so funny if it was going to happen to a less wealthy team though... if we where doing it to Glasgow Rangers it wouldn't even make people smile... apart from Celtic.

it seems LFC have completely lost control of the situation now.

a discussion has occurred where carrol's been told he's not wanted and it seems that andy and his agent have taken this as proof if needed that all loyatly bonuses will be paid.. they are now freely talking and putting it all on rodgers and the club.

Newcastle are chatting away about getting him but have no intent on paying what we want.

Reality time.... comolli and kenny were sacked and so was our medical director and it all probably stems back to this deal.. he should never have been bought with a serious injury day one and the fee was ridiculous. we are not going to get 20mil for him cos we've now made it clear that he's not wanted so anyone bidding has the power. the only thing that can recoup 20mil is a bidding war which is never going to occur.

Rodgers has every right to shove him out the door and any other player he wants to as well. hes the new manager and will stand or fall over such decisions so has the right to make them. He's made his mind up over Carroll without even meeting him so it can only be the fact that he doesn't fancy him as a player and how he works on the pitch. we took in 50mil for torres, gave newcastle 35mil and so we took in 15mil profit. if we take in 15-20mil for carroll then effectively we'll have given our windfall to newcastle we will have say 30-35mil off of torres which is market value while newkie build a whole side of our collective idiocy.

In the end the only possible positive that can be taken is FSG got real having seen the goings on and decided to get rid of everyone they didn't rate, which is their right. I will judge them on thier appointments NOW. I'm forgiving them for mistakes when they first arrived but do feel kenny was quite hard done by. Their current set of decisions will decide if they turn us into no hopers or a top club.... If rodgers has the balls to say that carroll won't fit in then he's got to at least have a clue as to how he wants to play and who he wants. Only time will tell again if he's also a waster or right.

The whole thing is ridiculous as we paid for newcastle to build an entire team while we wasted all the moeny spent and right now or very best prospects are young players signed by rafa and 4-5 senior rafa men left. (reina, agger, skertl, agger, johnson) Hodgson was a comeplte waste of years and kenny's 18months looks to be leaving perhaps, only henderson and suarez.

its amazing to me that despite this sage we can potentially throw a first 11 and bench together that will scare the rest... will we be smarter in the future and find proper players like newcastle or will we just keep wasting cash?

    Reina
    johnson skertl agger enrique
    Gerrard Lucas Adam
    Borini Suarez Cole/bellamy/downing

    our bench could be:

jones henderson, kelly, two of Cole/bellamy/downing, shelvey, carragher....

our wunderkinds are: wisdom, robinson, suso, sterling, ibe, teixiera, n'goo, morgan.

if we can't get our players to work as hard or harder than the opposition and maybe even add one or two more to that squad its all a cod.

    Let the haters hate.

It's all about turning the clock back...red goal nets, old 'This is Anfield' sign, Hoff hair of the 70s/80s. All points to one thing...

Next year really is our year. <ok>

To be honest, I couldn't give a flying **** about the £35m we paid for Carroll, it is in the past and we need to move with the times. If Rodgers doesn't rate or want the lad then fair enough, that is his choice. As long as we get the going rate for Carroll (for his abilities/situation in todays market) then I'm happy <ok>

rafa lost his job rightly over aquilani.

comolli lost his over carroll (i think)

In the end i don't think we can or i should say could afford to pay 35mil for carroll then throw 15-20mil in the bin (or newcastles hand to build half a side to be higher in the league than us) thats why fsg sacked the guy but i do hope this is the absolute end of stupidity and each and every deal we do from here on in passes the "man in the street" test.

The "man in the street" test says the following:

    1. if rivals are laughing you've blundered.

    2. if your fans generally think the price is too high it is.

    3. if guys can look on wikipedia and see the guy is a donkey or an injury wreak... he usually is.

    4. if guys form this opinion on the day the deal becomes know... whether or not its completed then it must be obvious.

downing, aquilani, degen, voronin, carroll.... the list could go on but the key point is on every occasion the genral fan consensus was they were mad deals.

I think Liverpool need to start buying players based on actual ability and not newspaper reports. Give the buying power to the scouting network and let the manager concentrate on the playing side of things.

  13. Comolli was head of the scouting network wasn't he...? I would imagine we have just returned to having a head/chief scout...<ok>

This is how Derek LLambias explained the deal, which was picked up off a Liverpool blog this morning:

“It is about control.” “We had the control. We knew the Torres deal was there.” “We drew that F deal, perhaps the ultimate.”

“So £30M? F off! Don’t waste my time and I slammed the phone down.” “£35M? Everybody including manager Alan Pardew all agreed to that.”

“But the £35M they wanted to pay over four years. It was rubbish. Mike Ashley said, and he is a brave boy Mike I promise you — “get all the £35M up front.”"

“We got it all up front and then they never paid us on time and we charged them 12 grand F interest.”

Mark Douglas from the Newcastle Evening Chronicle has said that a bid for AC of £16m has been placed and Mathieu Debuchy will have signed by Monday.

it seems the saga continues with rodgers being generous with his praise on day one of the england boys return. stand by for the press to start spinning stories again.

Agreed. If a club is so overwhelming happy to "lose" a player, then we can be certain that the price paid was OTT. There was not a single dissent or hint of unhappiness at Newcastle when Carroll left. Must tell you something.

I agree about the decent offer part, if he doesn't fit into our plans then I'd rather we got rid and we spent the money we got on another Striker.
