"And Liverpool are the league cup winners after beating Cardiff"...Doesn't have the same ring as..."And Liverpool are the league cup winners after beating City". But I guess we have had the toughest run if we do get there.
****, I missed the draw! Anyway, happy to have the second leg at home... That should help us in my opinion.
I would have rathered City in the final as it would have meant gaurenteed european football next season regardless of how results go (City are pretty much nailed on for top 4). Now we have to win the comp for gaurenteed europe before the run in at the end of the season. Never mind though, City wil be more worried then us regarding this draw as we currently fear no-one
Massive point there Bozz about the European qualification,Also i reckon they are more focused on justifying the Sheikh's money and reaching the CL as champs or top 2,3 or 4. I think it'll be close but we can do it with the correct tactics in the 1st leg and our normal game in the 2nd. The 1st leg is the 9th of January? Is the transfer window open then and if it is and Lucas is out for the rest of the season we might be in for an established replacement in time for the semi.
As they say, " To be the best you have to beat the best" I think we can do it. Any CL or Europa in line for them around the time of these games?
we should stick with spearo. wee wont be able to sign a prem based DMC as they'd be cup tied for the city game and any european based DMC will need time to settle. This is not only time for Spearing to step up but this will also test Adam and Henderson as they will have lost their trusted security blanket
I think you just have to look back to our recent display against citeh. Ok, it was a draw, but we were much the better team. We're consistently improving and hopefully will have had a good run through December with the games we have. Lucas is a big loss, but I have no douby about Jay's complete commitment to the cause. He played very well towards the end of last season. The spuds got beaten as well, which was a bit of a surprise. Big win now needed against Shamrock Rovers - What? The wheels may well be coming off united they've not been playing well for some time. I don't care that they made 10 changes. They're always telling us how much quality is in their squad. Just prepare to be bombarded with 'Mickey Mouse Cup' comments, especially if we get past citeh.
They must have warmed the balls up ( ooo errr ) before the United/Palace game finished.I was thinkin about putting my mortgage on us gettin Citeh befor the draw last night
We could do wi Spurs stayin in Europe, think Salonika have to beat Kazan in the last game for that to happen, so unlikely
Tried to get a bet on before the game that the scum would draw Cardiff, Bookie would't take it, looking forward to two good games, good luck.
First leg: Wednesday, 11 January 2012 Carling Cup Man City v Liverpool, SF, L1, 19:45 Second leg: Wednesday, 25 January 2012 Carling Cup Liverpool v Man City, SF, L2, 19:45
We have to hope that City get through to the KO stages of the Champs League, as they will continue to rest players in the CC and FA cup. If they get knocked out, i fear over two legs.
Nah, bollocks to that mate - we should have done them at Anfield last week. We're not as bad as some people would have you believe, and they're not as good. Over 2 legs I fancy our chances big time.
I'm with you Jonesey. On another thread, you mentioned you'd been to see Dweezil Zappa's band. Was Moon-Unit there as well?
