I dont think it is worth speculating until the result of Today's meeting is known. If it is positive, then i for one would like to see Burke back at the CCS.
CCFC4ever Nice wish list but £16m out and only £1.75m in? Can't quite see that even if the £100m investment goes ahead. I agree Burkie would be great for us again but to pay £2m when he left for nothing only 12 months ago, not on really especially if we soigned Adomah - same position. Nice to see Malky is following my hit list for players to go. Not so good that Taiwo, Parkie and Keinan all have 12 months left on their contracts. Can't expect any money for the first 2 although Keinan may generate a bit of cash. I thought we might keep Lawrence unless he wants too much pay or too long a contract. He was one of our better players for the last few games, knows the division well and would be good for another season or 2 at least. No surprise if Gezza goes although we will then need another central defender.
Bluey - not so sure about Lawrence mate, despite a couple of MOM performances. TBH, he had very little to beat at the time. Lawrence has the experience but was too slow and the complete antithesis of what we need in the side. I'm pretty sure that if we kept him as a first option wide right in the starting lineup next season, the best we could say is that we'd probably stay up. Is that what we want? Going forward next season means pace as well as experience. That's out wide on the right from midfield forward, and all down the left side. Though an improvement over Kennedy, Taylor is far from a good left side wing back for me - quick brain but slow legs. Whitts and McPhail are both good playmakers, but their intrinsic lack of speed about the pitch means the other two (or three depending on formation) in midfield need to have some fizz about them. Gunnar and Cowie have more than proved their worth, but we need OPTIONS! We lacked it big time this year - you just can't rely on Mason and Miller to fetch and carry - they need to be on the sharp end to put defences under pressure. There's also little point in continually pursueing that up front combination when it clearly isn't going to work in every circumstance. Even if Rudy can remain injury free next year, we need at least one other established "target man" type player to ring the changes - especially with the almost certainty that injuries will intervene at some point.
Lets hope common sense prevails at tomorrow's meeting and the half heads from last week haven't messed up the relationship with our owners totally. Whatever signings we want to make we need the money to fund them as the outgoing players won't raise much (other than to reduce the wage bill) unless our hand is forced to sell Whitts and Turner. Sparks - I saw Lawrence as a useful squad player rather than first choice if we get the right type of player on the right hand side. Maybe we don't want him (wages too high) or maybe he thinks he can still do a good first choice job elsewhere. Either way, he put in a good shift once settled in so good luck to him wherever he goes - until playing us of course. Now go and sign my petition (if not done already - see Venue Demolition thread). This affects you as a BCBC resident. Do you want your hard earned council tax payments funding a bigger car park or the health and wellbeing of your fellow BCBC residents?
Don't you dictate to me you bloody reactionary!........ OK Bluey - since Mel Mathias has finally knocked down the Embassy and made it into decent car park, I'll go with you on that. Trouble is he's going to build a sort of leisure complex on it when the timing is right, so it'll go eventually, then we might need that extra car park. Never played squash, I only drink it, but I can appreciate that facilities should be provided for those who want to run around in a glass cage........ Will do.
Sign the petition and you can park outside my house!!!! Cheaper than the council car parks - but only just!!! Build a leisure complex on the Embassy? It was a bloody bingo hall for years, until the rats took over - the fury ones with long tails not the human kind.
There were a few of the latter as well for the last few years believe me - I know how many bottles and needles were collected each morning. . Never really knew it as the Bingo Hall - it was always the class cinema of the town for me. The other two, The Palace on Derwen Road and The Cinema down Elder Lane were lower class establishments.... Mind you, a lovely lady neighbour of ours at the time worked as the ticket money lady in The Cinema - me and my mate got in for bugger all when she was on duty. I shall have to stop this reminiscing - it's making me quite tearful..............
Rumour is Cardiff interested in former POSH keeper Joe Lewis. I would plead with your club do not sign this guy, even on a free transfer. Cannot command his box (he never talks) He cannot catch crosses even under no pressure, poor kicking, he is petrified of getting hurt and the list goes on. You may say he was part of three promotion winning teams, and he was. However this was due to the prolific three strikers M- Smith, Mc Lean & Boyd who scored enough goals to cover for his mistakes. If he was any good why did nobody come in to sign him when he was regular England U21 and even full team squad member for a few games plus the three prmotions all achieved whilst at POSH DO NOT SIGN HIM
Jones is still here at the moment but not sure if he will stay on, which is a shame. He was playing well and we were in a good position but Fergie decided to play the clown(Lewis) trying to sell him. Bad mistake and I'm not surprised Jones is undecided what to do after being shafted, he was the fans choice for number 1
Hmmm, methinks Posh Blue Boy doth protest too much. A bit like we all said Whitts was carp when other clubs wanted him.
I do not protest ,just point out the facts that many other POSH fans will endorse. Okay I'll change tact, sign him and play him all season and you won't even make the play offs, he is garbage
