Good morning all. In yesterday's election 7 of the current States Members were voted out - that's a sizeable amount in an Assembly with 51 members, even more so when only 39 seats were available. The turnouts in St Helier were once again extremely poor - in the district of St Helier I live in, it was 27% and in the other 2, it was 28% and 33%. Having said that, these were high turnouts compared to normal, which are usually about 20 - 25%.

Thanks Ak, the glow of warmth from your National team's recent efforts must be keeping you warm!

They are. The weather is grey again and 0C.

Bifreiðaskoðanir or vehicle inspection is annual and the cost is kr.10290,- about GBP55,- and is done after two years, if the care fails there is a retesting cost when the work is done. You are fined if the car is not tested by the right day. The vehicle must be taken to a government station or an approved company.

Morning all. Grey but dry and very warm in this part of the country. Temperatures are expected to soar in the next few days, and it looks as if some of the warmth will be heading towards you. Not sure how far north it will get.

We are promised 17C to 18C over the next few days, I've just been to Tescos in shirtsleeve order! <ok>

25°C-27°C forecast here, while down on the Spanish border they think it will be 30°C. Severe storms last night down south, with roofs taken off buildings and boats moored in the harbour having been wrecked. Although we have good weather generally with short winters, we do have extremes.

Do you have a JIP or CIIP party over there Barry?

No, traditionally all candidates are independent. A few years ago, a group got together and called themselves the Jersey Democratic Alliance, but only one of their candidates was voted in at the election after that (can't remember if it was for Senators or Deputies - used to be a 6 year term for one, and 3 for the other, and the terms for Connetables varied - but now it's 4 for all which is why we were able to have a General Election). We have a new party called Reform Jersey, who seem to be better organised than the JDA were. They had 2 people elected, but they were already Members as independents.

Anyone having trouble getting access to our forum? Firefox and IE say its not available but i can see other tems blogs.

I fear my pc has taken aversion to our blog. I got some wierd firewall message at the time. Any ideas?

I am typing this on my Blackberry playbook which is unaffected so I guess its not the site itself.

No.
Access today is good, yesterday with my protection was difficult. I have new broadband so my internet will be faster.

With nothing better to do today, I spent this afternoon visiting my son in Perth. He's off to Paris on Saturday to attend a gig by a Swedish band called Dirty Loops (made the mistake of searching YouTube & won't bother again...) and, trying to show off my non-existent knowledge of Parisian hotels, I asked him where he was staying. "Hotel Anya" - not being a football fan, he rolled his eyes when I told him....

Unlike our Anya, this one sounds less than classy.... http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...6-Reviews-Anya_Hotel-Paris_Ile_de_France.html

One week until I come to England for Firefest again. Three days of rock music in Nottingham. The organisers say this year is the last as they get no support from record labels. One label in Italy has their own festival with their bands in March and there is Väsby in Sveden in julí.

Next year I wish to go to Väby earlier than the festival so can visit the old capital of the Svíar, Upsalla.
