Morning all.. Three days before we trek home from this remote region to go into quarantine... Will tackle the mandatory govt form soon too. Have a good one...
Morning all. Some very welcome overnight rain with sunshine and showers forecast for this afternoon and through the weekend. Our store cupboard of English things such as teabags, gravy powder or sauces that are either not available, or very expensive here is getting low. In normal times we would have been to England to buy them, but not this year. Our English friends still love Wiltshire sausages and there is a local company that sells them. During the crisis the monthly market where they get their supply has been closed, but tomorrow it will be open again for the whole day, not just the morning. If you go masks must be worn, but we will not bother, but I guess they will be there to restock. Have a good day whatever you are doing .
Morning all. Light rain has been falling, not a lot but enough to save me some watering. The water pressure in the tap is very low this morning reminding me of when a faulty pump meant that we didn't have any running water for nearly a week. Pallets of water were brought in for us to help ourselves to, and it became a good lesson on how to be careful with the amount that you used. Need to go in search of a different type of liquid this morning as the stocks are getting just a touch low. Still plenty of bargains around for everyday use, but there is quite a difference between that and a bottle costing ten times as much. Have a good day whatever you have planned.
Good afternoon all.. Just had a great walk in the country round our house with a friend and for her birthday I have cooked a lovely curry which we have shared together.. Good curry is rare in France so can be a real treat... Enjoy!
Morning all.. Sun Just popping out here after a damp start... We have to close up the house ready for our departure tomorrow morning.. And don't know when we will be able to get back... Then we have to fill in the quarantine forms.. Hopefully a neighbour will let us do as signal here is so poor.. Have a good day
Morning all. Bright and sunny at the moment, but showers predicted later. I wonder if they will arrive? Went through heavy rain on the shopping trip yesterday, but it didn't arrive here. The signs are out in town to say that the Tour de France will be coming through on the 10th September and one should expect some delays in the surrounding areas. Off to celebrate our granddaughter's 17th birthday this afternoon. The days of jelly and ice cream seem a long way into the past. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
We have noticed in our area all the little country roads where the tour will pass have been retarmaced and relined after years of poorly surfaced lanes ...
Morning all. Sunshine and cloud at present, but no further rain forecast for a week. Clearly we did have some more overnight, but until I get to check my water butts I will not know how much. It is looking as though we are going to have another cucumber glut before long. The ones in the greenhouse are ahead of the ones growing down the field, but there are only so many that we can eat even if they are spread out over time. Granddaughters can eat miles of it, but the neighbours never say no to one or two. Safe journey north Yorkie. Hope they let you back in and try to remember which language to use. Have a good day everyone.
Morning all. As we are now in September it is not surprising to find that overnight the temperature is lower overnight than we are used to. We will soon have to think about getting the duvet out again. Discovered on Sunday evening that one of the headlights on the car has ceased to work, so a new bulb will have to be bought. Last time my garage put one in for me and I was pleased that they did when I watched the contortions that Michel went through to reach it. I think I just might get them to put this new one in. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Greetings from North of Leeds, as we enter our enforced quarantine.. At least we have enough wine! Weare shocked at how damp and cold our house is after being empty for a month.. There must have been so much rain here...
I have been investigating the Hive Live thing although it's not really live yet. I have a Fan id for tickets which still works, but I also have a Watford FC Website login but for the life of me I cannot find how to log in or if I am in, log out. Suggestions anyone? Tx
Morning all. A lovely blue sky and little wind means that it feels warm outside, although the greenhouse vent is only just opening. A month ago and it would be fully opened at 7.00am, but with the days becoming shorter it has longer to cool down overnight. Yesterday I picked all of the pears off of our ancient tree before the hornets had them all. There are enough on the ground for them to have, so fair shares we have ours. The rain in the Spring together with no late frost has produced a bumper crop of them, the best we have had for a long time. I think Mme will be kept busy storing them in one form or another. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Morning all. A sunny day in prospect with a temperature of 28°C forecast. The recycling centre van is out and about in the village this morning collecting all the large items of furniture that people no longer want. They also take things like an old cooker, renovate it with people who are on a trade learning scheme, then sell it on once clean and working. Before my daughter had her own house she rented one without a cooker, so bought one from them very cheaply, then when she moved returned it to them to be done up and sold again. A very useful service all round. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Morning all. A clear blue sky and a temperature expected to be 31°C this afternoon. Daughter's car in the garage after it threw a wobbly. Pressed her key to open the door and the radiator fan started up and all of the lights flashed on and off rapidly. Man in garage delved under the bonnet, emerged holding an electrical component, hit it with a spanner, replaced it and all was well. Only a matter of time before it does it again so replace the piece now. Therefore I am on standby to take her to collect the car once the part has arrived and been fitted. Have a trouble free day whatever you are doing.
Morning all. Grey and much cooler today. We have discovered that one chain of supermarkets is now selling corned beef in tins, with a key that will no doubt break off the tab when you try to open it. Just one of those things that takes me back to Sunday teatime when I was young. Checked out the price against the UK supermarkets and unlike many products that cater for the English taste it is cheaper here. We have also found another chain that sells horseradish sauce to go with the roast beef. It is made in Poland. Enjoy your day whatever the weather.
Worcester sauce in Carrefour too! Big changes for us back in the UK.... we plan to put the house on the market and have seen a smaller place we like online..as soon as we are out of Quarantine....... Plan to spend much more time en France in future....
