Yes it is essentially a form of submission or acceptance, in my view the only thing worse would be down on both knees with your hands behind your back, total surrender

Ok we are on the same page. Maybe it is being done as a sign of respect. What was the original reason the NFL player did it? To not respect the national anthem? Then it'd be to turn your back, surely?

I am a bit confused about all of it to be honest. (The knee thing) Undoubtedly, it has drawn attention to an important issue. I have felt racism here as I am a minority, on a much smaller scale, however, it is not a thing that should be in any society.

I would have had more respect for the American NFL player if he had given the fist salute but to take the knee was a complete mystery

OK, thanks - I am still not sure as to why either. Thought it was me just being dumb about the knee thing. Glad youa re not sure either. That makes me feel less confused but still needing answers! :emoticon-0138-think

To me the symbolism of it is what the white cop did to the black guy and suffocated him. I am sure you could go back much further than that, but for me it is what happened recently.

No OFH it goes back to the black NFL player who possibly did not fully understand what the posture meant
If Trump had more than one brain cell he would have realised that and used it to his advantage

We could argue all day about this
I will never accept that kneeling before someone is anything but an act of submission

Morning all. Grey at the moment, but sunshine and showers expected this afternoon. Yesterday we had something approaching the level of a tropical storm and since the road works rain water is now going down drains it never used to, and bypassing those it used to head to. My gardening is currently on hold because of the weather, so might as well go and do the shop rather than wait until a football match is underway. Have a good day whatever you will do. <ok>

Morning all. A lovely sunny morning, just a light breeze and a few fluffy white clouds overhead. Just right to get back on the veggie plot. Oh, hang on, there is a football match to watch. I hope that it is worthwhile spending a couple of hours indoors for it. If it goes wrong I think the weeds might have a rough time of it. Enjoy your day whatever you will do. <ok>

Morning all Grey and looks as if there could be some rain around. Fathers Day here as well as the UK. I have a parcel sent by one of my daughters that says it comes from WFC. I will open it when I have a cup of coffee. It is quite unfair that Mme has the English Mothering Sunday and also the French Mothers Day that do not coincide so she gets treated twice. Enjoy your day whatever is in store for you. <ok>

    And to you.
It does hurt a little when your four sons who have all flown the nest forget - and your daughter who's still in the nest forgets too...
