Morning all. Dark, dreary and damp is the best I can say about the weather. After Christmas and New Year comings and goings, it is nice to settle back into a more normal way of life. The days are getting longer very slowly, but they are. Time to start planning what I will attempt to grow this year, when to get seed, and when to start propagating it. The old saying about being retired and not knowing how you had time to go to work certainly comes to mind. Have an enjoyable day whatever the weather. <ok>

Morning all. Quite bright and dry here, but the light breeze is coming from the north so it is not that warm. Hopefully la Poste will bring me a new inner tube for my wheelbarrow today. France shut down for the Christmas and New Year period, so my order was sat in a warehouse waiting for them to return. Finally I received an e-mail to say that it had been despatched. You get used to such things happening, but the people working are quite entitled to have a break from the boredom of putting things in packaging. Enjoy your day whatever you will be doing. <ok>

Morning all. A lovely bright morning, dry but not too warm. Yesterday evening there was thick fog in some parts of the country and at Chambéry Savoie Mont-Blanc airport no aircraft could take off. There were about 1,000 Brits there wanting to get back to the UK, but they were trapped, or as the French press would say, they were nailed to the floor. An emergency centre was set up in Aix-les-Bains to ensure that everyone could be kept warm and receive hot meals. About 550 beds were found so that many could have some sleep, but some without a bed have been making a lot of noise about the poor treatment. Others have been very grateful for the help they received, and I think the response of the authorities was first class at such short notice.
Let us hope that no one here spends the day in a fog. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Morning all. A lovely bright sunny morning again, but Jack Frost has visited overnight. The village is gradually filling up again with my young friend back to work, and my next door neighbour back from his visit to a friend for the past three weeks. They are both always ready for a chat, and there is no doubt that for me Parisian French is very much easier to converse in. Our very elderly neighbour has a heavy regional accent, and she can be very difficult to understand, although she seems fine at understanding us as we mangle the language. Quite a lot of outside jobs to do today, so had better wrap up and get on with them. Rain is likely to return tomorrow. Enjoy your day whatever it might bring. :emoticon-0100-smile

    Morning all..
A great day yesterday doing trains of all ages as we visited the Yorkshire railway museum yesterday with our two year old. Rocket was there plus the bulllet train. Our grandson even did a simulator ride on Mallard.
I am happy to announce my favourite model railwy ever is still there... and I am ebaying train sets.... again!

Morning all. It is a fine drizzle here making everything damp just after things were starting to dry out a bit. It is however extremely mild for the first week in January with the vent on the greenhouse opening yesterday afternoon. I spent a little while taking stock down the fields yesterday and found that I have a mass of daffodils in bud, and will likely be in flower in a week or two. I also discovered that some more trees failed to make it through the heatwave last summer and will get the chainsaw treatment. This time of year can be deceptive, a nice warm sunny day or two followed by grey damp conditions. Still there is little I can do about the weather. Have an enjoyable day whatever you have planned. <ok>

Morning all. Grey with just a hint of dampness in the air, but very mild. At long last my inner tubes have arrived for my wheelbarrow. I ordered them just before Christmas, but due to holidays nothing happened to despatch them until last Friday. Maybe after I have fitted one I will be able to fetch some more logs without getting stuck in the mud.
Have a good day whatever you are doing..<ok>
