Pleased that the treatment will continue Dave. Hope that it is not too tiring for you. Good news here that nothing of any note that needs doing to the car, so another two years without major expense. It has started to rain again.
All the best on that Dave.... Greetings from France.. Just some great local bread and cheese for lunch.. And looking at the weeds .. When we left it was bone dry... Now every piece of soil has a myriad of weed lings..
Latest reports suggest that the driver did just that, picked up the trailer from the port, he only had it for an hour. Outrageous behaviour by police and press.
Morning all. It looks as if we are going to have a bright and dry day. The cranes have started their migration south to spend the winter in warmer climes. Last year they were much later and it was very mild, so I hope that this earlier start doesn't mean that that it will be much colder. We are on rabbit minding duty this weekend as family are having a few days away. We are going to them rather than having them here. Hope you all have a decent day.
Morning all. Lovely morning, blue sky and mild. Yesterday I had to cut the grass along the green lane to my fields as the grass has recovered and was getting so long that it needed the wellies to stop me getting wet feet. Even when there is no rain at this time of year you get overnight dew, and the longer the grass, the longer it takes to dry out. Remembering how wet it was in the early part of the year the figures are showing that over the whole year to date we have only had about 35% of the normal rainfall. I must go and get some more petrol now as I need to fire up the chainsaw to provide some logs for the woodburner. It is no good waiting until I actually need them. Enjoy your day, and I hope that any who are going the the Vic will stay dry.
With the news that the Daily Telegraph has seen its profits drop by 95% and the sales plummeting, it looks as if the owners want to offload it. It is the hard print newspapers suffering, and putting articles behind paywalls on their internet editions is becoming more common. The days of the hot lead printing came to an end in the 1980's and the costs were reduced giving the owners more time, but across the whole spectrum of newspapers now there is a struggle to beat off the brief items that appear on phones. Are we seeing the end of newspapers as we know them?
As an ex- newspaper printer I would say it'll be a sad day if newspapers disappeared. There is no nicer way to read the news than from an actual paper although I did struggle last week trying to read the ST on a plane without annoying those around me because of the broadsheet size.
There are many things that newspapers can do, but providing up to date news is not something that they can compete with the internet on. Sadly many people today are not that interested in reading much more than headlines, whereas there are some really interesting articles in some of the papers. I have friends who still buy their copy of the Telegraph every day simply for the crossword puzzles, but the front page is a complete mystery to them. Ask them for an opinion on a news item and the chances are they will not even know about the event. The sports section goes straight into the bin unless I am staying with them. Related is the fact that whenever the news comes on the TV they will turn over for some light entertainment.
The Saturday Telegraph and Sunday Times are the only papers I actually buy unless I obtain the freebie Telegraph during the week at Waitrose. These are well worth the cover prices and much more enjoyable than reading online. Notwithstanding I fully expect papers to become obsolete in a generation. The younger members of my family cannot understand why anybody would actually buy a CD, although I still do. I still have boxes of LPs currently without a deck to play them on.
Morning all. The météo said it would be cloudy but dry until this evening when it would rain. The cloudy part is correct, but we are having occasional showers that are not heavy, but enough to make things wet. I was planning to have my bonfire that has been on hold because it has been too windy, so may have to watch the rugby instead. Enjoy your day whatever is planned.
Good day all.. Some very light drops of rain here.. As we tidy up the land here ready for winter... Two neighbours in the village having new fosses fitted... We have been here 17 years and don't know where ours is.. And the people who owned before us don't either.. But the time is coming to locate it.. And examine it.. .. Found a bit of woodworm in the attic so that needs treating and we are planning on putting a family room up there.. So have been measuring up for veluxes etc... Actually had lunch on the terrace. So still quite mild.. And ate outside too yesterday...
