Morning all. Cloud and sunshine here at present, and quite mild. As I look out of the window I see that a week with some rain has turned the grass verges back to green from a yellow straw like colour. I have not cut that grass since early May and wonder if I can avoid getting my mower out of the barn before winter. Some of my fruit and vegetables have done really well this year, but other things have not. At least I can now get a fork into the ground again after it turning to something like concrete, but I have not yet explored how deep the rain has penetrated. I need to do some pruning on my Loganberry today, which was one of the successes this year. Three large tubs of the fruit in the freezer for winter use. Enjoy your day, especially if you can get outside. <ok>

Morning all was just about fifteen seconds behind a major accident in the rain on the M62 yesterday.. A car ended up aquaplaning and then rolling over and wrapping itself round a tree on the central reservation... The full emergency services, air ambulance and both sides closed..
Is a real reminder of how close we are from such things...
Police were posting photos of the car as a stark warning to us all
The motorway was awash.. And some people were still merrily speeding along in the fast lane...

Arrived in Liverpool very quiet as a result...
There is no need to risk life.. It is too short anyway..

Morning all. A busy day yesterday, and I managed to get a lot done, which is just as well as the skies have just opened and it is coming down like stair rods. I was weeding and clearing up a vegetable patch and found that the soil was damp for about 4" and below that it was still like dust. At least I can now get a fork into the ground. It looks as if I will not be spending much time outside today with the météo forecasting storms during the day. Enjoy your day whatever the weather. <ok>

Morning all. Judging by the road we had some more rain overnight which is fine. It is cloudy but dry currently and very still and quiet in the village. Just the regulars here now with the part-timers having returned to England or Paris. I think that the farm must have seperated the calves from their mothers last night as there was a lot of bellowing coming from that direction. Family groups are the norm out here, with bulls, cows and calves kept together in the fields for much longer than is the practice in England. You do not see beware of the bull signs because they are very docile when kept with the family group. Have a good day whatever you must do. <ok>

Morning all. Cloudy, dry and mild here this morning. Just as I said yesterday all the part-timers had left the village, two of the English ones returned complete with their dogs. They were living in Birmingham until last year when they moved to somewhere quieter. All sorts of problems selling their house and moving into the new one, resulting in them having all their furniture in store for two months, and unexpected bills of nearly £6,000. The dogs are a problem for them now having seen that the pet passport scheme will no longer function as presently. Popped along to the bakers yesterday, and when I came out realised that one of my tyres was going down. Pumped it up and went along to my friendly garage man. Two new ones I thought, but knowing that my MOT was due later this month he confirmed that I really needed to replace all four. At least I saved some money by getting the "buy four and get a discount" deal. Enjoy your day one and all. :emoticon-0100-smile

Morning all. Rain overnight, but although there is still a lot of cloud about the sun is making a few appearances. Since Mme was bitten by a tic and spent a week in hospital several years ago, she has to take three pills a day to prevent the effects of Lymes disease. Seeing a news item that a range of medications in the UK were in short supply and an export ban had been placed on them, she checked out where her pills come from. Looking at the box you would think they were all made in France, but look at the leaflet inside and you find they were made in Spain, Hungary and Poland, but licensed for sale by the EMA in Holland. Going down the Autoroute we see lorries from all round Europe and most of the time have no idea what they are carrying. We now know that some of them have her pills on board.
Enjoy your day whatever is in store for you. <ok>

Morning all. Plenty of blue sky this morning and it is mild, just right for getting outside. Big wine sales in the supermarkets at present as the producers try to clear stocks. You can pick up a very decent bottle of Bordeaux, chateau named and bottled for €1.99, or you can pay €329 for six bottles from a better known supplier. Very often it is the small grower who has a limited output, that if good commands the highest prices. You will find many bottles with a gold, silver or bronze sticker on them to show if they have been entered into judging competitions, and how they have been graded. It is worth having a few decent bottles around for the occasions you have guests, but the everyday plonk is quite good enough unless you happen to pick up a Spanish one which can be really rough. Enjoy your day, and a win would be very acceptable. :emoticon-0100-smile
