Arrived back in the North.. Phew... epic journey, living on bread and black tea and nasty pills! Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
Morning all. A lovely blue sky with some wispy cloud coming in from the West. I am going to visit the huge street market that rolls into town on the 29th of each month to see if I can find some plants that I want. At this time of year it will have many tourists who hope to find a bargain, but many locals who want to replace their flock of chickens. There are bargains to be had, but what it is very good at is quality of the fresh fruit and vegetables. I haven't been to it for at least a year, but several neighbours do go each month just to meet up with their old drinking partners. You will see them sat around a stall offering samples of a decent wine, then an hour later see the same group at another producer. I doubt that they ever actually buy anything.
Morning all. Rather grey this morning, but little wind and they say it will be around 25°C this afternoon. We went to the market yesterday and I found the plants I was looking for. They are now in the ground and hopefully will like the position I chose for them. Public holiday here, and the Ascension weekend brings all the warnings about the times when you should not travel. As usual many motorists will take no notice, so there will be lengthy queues at the toll booths. I do not intend to go very far! Enjoy your day whatever is in store for you.
Morning all. A lovely summer like morning, and the temperature forecast to hover around 30°C this afternoon. A friend has her son living with her who is a professional gardener, so she has a beautiful display of colour at this time of year. Off this afternoon to have a nose round it, have a cream tea with home made strawberry jam and genuine Cornish clotted cream, and raise a few Euros for some good causes.
Morning all. It was hot yesterday and it is forecast to be even hotter today. Lovely garden to see yesterday, with an English gardener telling me how he had learnt what was successful and not in very different growing conditions to England. Having baked in the sun I took refuge in the shade of a large apple tree, and was joined by an American lady who was a direct descendent of Filippo Lippi the 15thC Italian artist. Her father left Italy for America in the search for work, which he found as a coal miner, and she came over to France to see an exhibition of Lippi's paintings. She found that the history and culture of Europe was more to her liking than the USA, so moved over here seven years ago. Her thoughts on political goings on are not for this thread.
Morning all. Another very hot day is promised, but there does seem to be a bit more breeze about. My gardening will have to be morning and evening as it is too hot for me in the afternoon. You can tell it is now hot as some of the locals have removed their woolly jumpers. Hope all goes well for your plans for the day.
