Morning all, a beautiful blue sky to greet us on this Christmas Day. You know it is special when your grandson staggers out of bed before midday.. Peaceful for a hour or so while the dogs are taking their owners for a walk, so there are bottles that have to be chilled, and others that have to breathe, and I am in charge of that department. On a less glamorous note I am also in charge of making sure that our fosse septic functions with the sudden additional work expected of it. So far so good, but I have threatened issuing ration cards.
Chance here to put up your worst Christmas cracker joke. What did the kidney say to the liver after a big night out? Do you know I feel absolutely offal.
Thank heavens we do not have crackers in Spain Here we just did cold turkey (in more senses than one ) as the big dinner was last night. Still mountains of sweets, smoked salmon, bottles of Cava and Xmas puds to go. But focus is moving to the big games tomorrow. Should be a cracker, the Canaries up against Notts forest. Then a pause to be followed by stuffing Chelsea. Always like boxing day
I remember when teams played Christmas Day and Boxing Day. You could turn up, pay your 1/6p and watch the top teams of their day knocking lumps out of each other. Chelsea v Man.Utd was a fierce encounter, but Spurs v West Ham was a bit more refined. Of course Watford were the most exciting to see, but all in the course of two days.
What a cruel thing to raise on Christmas day. I see they lost 9-1 at Stoke the following year. Lucky it was too early for a YouTube vid or you'd have it on permanent loop as a screen saver Dave
Morning all. A heavy overnight frost, but a lovely clear sky apart from the vapour trails from the aircraft that have passed overhead. Looking forward to tonight's game, but doubt I will find a quiet corner to watch. The baker was in full swing, after all people did have to go for a day without their fresh bread. I think my son-in-law has his eye on felling some more of the ash trees that have grown too high. I now have the largest log pile for several years, so don't expect to go cold this winter.
I don't know particularly about ash but most wood needs at least 18 months to dry out. I had 70 twenty five year old conifers cut down 3 years ago so have wood for years to come. I've got a very efficient 5kw wood burner and have just bought an additional 11kw model for the new house, With the excellent insulation values in new build houses I might have overdone it a bit. The local authorities are clamping down on woodburners in some areas at the moment due to stricter air quality control.
Now that is what you call a Chrissie prezzie. Yorkie according to the bbc you're quite mild (for you hardened notherners ) but the wet bit is the pain. My Spanish wife wants to get back to those crisp frosty days - but hates rain. Anyway the hours tick slowly. Just discovered the sports bar will not show the match so streaming it will have to be the answer. And now sister-in-law has stolen all the left-over turkey for her salad, so my turkey soup is a bit bereft of turkey (beyond the stock). Bl**dy spaniards think Xmas is all chocolate and shellfish - or selfish ) Anyway at least Dave's crew will kill 2 hours. Com'on u' canaries . REALLY is that the nearest thing we have to a canary???????
Well after 30 mins all Canaries but glad they avoided a red card. Pukki looks hot so I expect at least one from him. C'mon canaries Pantilimon wasting time before the 35 min!!!!!! And Lewis o so close
