Morning all. Bright and breezy day and I must get on with my outside painting as rain is forecast for tomorrow. The garden centre yesterday failed to provide what I was looking for, but instead we came back with plants for Mme's front of house display. Still that is her department, although I expect to be called into help with moving bags of compost around.
Mornin' all. Very heavy rain here over night. Hopefully no hail stones or my big broad-leaved jungle plant will have turned into a cheese plant. He normally hides in the garage. That said he's getting so big getting him in there is not easy. Glad the new 4 meter branch loppers arrived and that yesterday evening I got to use them. The vicious spiked bougainvillea has been trimmed and the debris disposed of. So now if the local forecast of hurricane winds arrives there should be less damage. Still dark here so back to work and another tea. Enjoy
Morning all. I woke up about an hour go to heavy rain but I think that it has at least died down, possibly stopped.
Morning all, bright and very breezy in rural France. Showers expected this afternoon, turning to rain, then back again to showers. I thought I had finished my painting yesterday evening and cleaned up the brushes to be used another day. That day seems to have arrived rather quickly as I noticed that I hadn't quite joined up from a stopping and restarting point. Five minutes painting, followed by ten minutes getting the brush clean.
War on [emoji221] continues.. At the moment I am still doing non violent ethnic cleansing.... Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
Well another suggested means of removing them is with a vacuum cleaner. Providing it has a clean bag you should be able to suck them up, then release them outside. Must be a clean vacuum mind as the dust will kill them off. Just done my good deed for the day by picking up a driver who was stranded alongside his broken down Noddy car. There are quite a lot of Noddy cars about as you can drive them without taking a test. Top speed is 30 mph, and you have to have a day of instruction in how to drive it, and know the highway code. They can be a bit of a pain when a line of traffic builds up behind them, but it does give some people the chance to get around seeing as there is no public transport.
Lovely weather here in Sani Dunes Halkidiki. One of the best hotels we've ever been to, highly recommend for special treat. Must start diet on return. Not missed the Brexit chatter one bit.
Are you sure these aren't the Asian ones Yorkie ? It looks to me like a Vacuum cleaner job. Milder, organic methods include placing bay leaves or vanille pods (the former is much cheaper) at all points of entry, and use of Camphor/Menthol sprays to get rid of them. The alternative is to use plants which contain those, such as kamille, mugwort or wermut for the Camphor or all mint plants for the latter.
Morning all. The rain forecast to arrive overnight failed to turn up. Glad I did some watering last night. This really has been an extraordinary year for the weather. I think I should start collecting the leaves that have fallen into the fields as the compost after a year or two is the best. I did clear away some leaves a few days ago, but so many have fallen since, you wouldn't know it. We have several red squirrels around the houses here currently, all busy collecting nuts and hiding them. They quite like the soft compost that people have in their containers of flowers, so you sometimes find the most unexpected plant popping up.
Yes they are the Asian ones.. Cleared them all out again yesterday and they didn't come back.. Phew.. Then went upstairs and the flies were swarming! We thought we had sealed where they get in last year.. So we cleared them all out and put masking tape around the windows. And so far so good.. Re [emoji221].. Apparently the UK ones don't overwinter in doors.. It is the harlequin type.. Which are taking over.. Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
Morning all. Sunny and mild and no forecast of rain. Down in the deep south there were storms that have cost lives when 3 months worth of rain fell in a few hours. Today is my youngest granddaughter's birthday, so will join her for tea when she finishes school. As she didn't go to school in England she has a larger vocabulary in French than English, but flips with ease between the two languages when speaking. She will sometimes say that she knows what something is in French, and ask if we know what it is in English. Language learning is something that is certainly easier the earlier you start.
Interesting listening to Russians,French, Germans and many other nationalities all ordering their food in English. The UK has such an advantage in communication.
