Morning all. No rain expected, temperature likely to be 32°C, ground as hard as stone, so back to the blackthorn and bramble clearing this morning. I have a large heap of vegetation that will have to be burnt, but although a bonfire is allowed when we get to September it would be highly dangerous to have one at present.
This week is PARTY week. We have travelled to another city for a massive parade. It is where I'd say a good two thousand plus people dress in indigenous clothing, shells as bells on their feet, minimal clothes, just a bit of animal skin, full headdresses with feathers, animal skulls etc. There are many cultures not just the most famous Mayan and Aztecas; Chichemecas, Otomi, and many more from the Republic attend to represent. They have a procession to a church where they originally let them turn to being catholic. It is some sight and lasts two days, with incense burning everywhere and drums rolling as they all dance in the plaza in front of the church. Then this weekend is Mexican Independence so it continues...
Morning all from an overcast Jersey. I injured my left hand yesterday, but not sure how, it was suddenly painful at work. I made a doctors appointment for Friday - I can't believe that they're that busy as I can normally get an appointment the same day or the following morning. The problem was that it swelled up yesterday evening to almost double the size, but the swelling has gone down overnight. When I go into town on the early bus, I'm going to A&E - I didn't go last night, as it would've meant jerzeypie taking me to the hospital and I didn't want him to either wait there or me have to call him when I left as he is on an early shift today and I didn't want him to be late to bed as he needs as much sleep as possible as part of his job is baking bread.
Morning all. The heatwave has returned. Yesterday afternoon if you stepped outside the house it was like walking into an oven. I will do what I can outside this morning, then retire inside for the afternoon.
Morning all - looks like it's going to rain here today. The issue with my hand I mentioned yesterday is RSI.
Morning all. Quite cloudy this morning, but it doesn't look as if it is rain bearing. The figures have been released on road accidents since the introduction of the 80 km/h speed limit on single carriage roads. They show a decrease in the numbers killed or injured and in sufficient numbers to make one believe it is a good thing. However the figures do not show where the accidents happened, making a real comparison impossible. The bad news was that cyclists numbers killed increased as did the motor cyclists. Two different cases I suspect. You don't get many on a push bike exceeding the speed limit on the Autoroute.
I guess I ought to mention this ,at my pre op assessment yesterday I was told that I have to decide whether to opt for resuscitation or not as my procedure is very high risk due to my embolism. If I am not back posting by Wednesday you will have to assume the worst
Dave, I can say with absolute certainty that everyone on here wishes you well. I am also certain that your friends up and down the country will have similar feelings. Stay strong in the belief that it will turn out well. I will be thinking of you and sending my strongest vibes for a successful outcome.
Good Morning Dave, everyone. Dave, just to echo Frenchie's words earlier: much positiveness coming your way. Hopefully the surgical team have the skills (I'm sure they have) and that little bit of good fortune they'll likely need; and your body has strength and resilience - it's obvious you have the will - to see this through and get some more quality years. Good luck!
Morning all. Once again we have cloud cover so not that hot. I must go and buy two new taps for for a couple of my water butts as the bit you use to turn it to open has broken off. The only way to fit a new one is to lay it down and crawl inside, so while they are empty I must get and do it.
