Although I may have a slight Hamburg twang I could never pretend to be German. Strangely enough some people ask me if I am from the Netherlands - there is not a large English community anywhere around here and there is nothing particularly English about my clothing or appearance so I suppose it's understandable. I also did live in the Netherlands for a while, but how that would effect my German I don't know - it was so many years ago now. I also lived in Somerset for around 14 years and my ex wife and kids all have Somerset accents which may have had some influence on my English - my sister thinks so anyway.
My daughter brought up in Leeds with southern parents .... her Yorkshire friends think she is a posh southerner and her London friends think she is a brash northerner.....
Morning all. A lovely blue sky above, no clouds, just vapour trails from the high level aircraft. I must go and prod my computer man again. He is quite quick normally and didn't think I had a large problem, so I guess he is rather busy. His workshop is like something from the past, defunct computers stacked high which I can only guess he saves to take parts from that are no longer available.
Morning all, Bloody international break means I have a "free" weekend. Even more as the Mrs is going to her hometown for the weekend. I am going to be let loose to play in the woods, but, like a good dog I will return home when playtime is over! BBQs, a bit of pool and general boozing awaits. Lovely.
Chased my computer man who is snowed under, he really could do with an assistant. He has suggested that I can have my laptop back tomorrow, but when I asked if I could collect it in the morning, he shook his head and said afternoon. Told him he shouldn't be so popular, which he agreed with.
Good morning from Jersey. I have the strange situation of the weather being different today depending on whether what I can see out of the front or back windows is how today is going to be. It's bright out the back, but I can see clouds out of my front windows that look like we may get rain. It doesn't help that there's no wind to be able to establish which is more likely.
Morning all. The drought continues, but Fritz the cat is enjoying it. He arrived in the village with the Dutch couple when they moved in permanently, but decided that he received better living standards from the French couple across the lane, so moved in with them. He is out on the grassy bank sunning himself. He had something like a stroke a couple of years ago, and was walking sideways, but seems to have completely recovered,and now sees of the feral cat that puts in an appearance from time to time. He is not a pleasant cat however, rolling over to have his tummy tickled, then with all claws extended has a go at the hand that is unwise enough to go near him.
Morning all. Another sunny morning and the temperature outside is comfortable. Expected to rise to 30°C later, but that is no problem. The computer is back and working fine. €15 for a new WiFi adapter and €15 for his labour seems very reasonable. Lost all my bookmarks and trying to restore them has proved a problem as I couldn't remember many of my passwords. No matter if it is a car or a computer it is fine while they work as they should, but go wrong and you remember how much you take them for granted.
Morning all. Nursing very sore feet after yesterday's 50km meander down the Thames. Completed in 7 hrs 23 and collected £500 for NSPCC. I never want to see another gravel track again! Have a great Sunday everyone

Salmon poached in pastis last night and veal with lemon and thyme tonight all washed down with a reasonable rosé. Lovely! I wonder what Mme will conjure up tomorrow ?
Morning all. Weather normal, blue sky and little breeze. Picked one of my ripe tomatoes today that weighed in at 450 grms. I haven't grown any for some time since Mme became ill eating small cherry tomatoes like sweets. This year I have tried the large beef type, and they have been very successful. Loads more to come if I can keep the water levels up.
