Morning all from a grey and damp rural France. We had quite a lot of rain overnight, but the predicted storms didn't get that close, you could hear a rumbling in the distance. At one time August was the holiday month over here, but now it has spread to July as well. The campsite in town is already well populated and that will increase as the children finish school on Friday. Some of the tents, caravans and motor homes seem to return every year, with some set up for the whole of the two months, much to the joy of the small supermarket and bar.

    Safe journey Yorkie.

My experiences of French campsites is just that. They seem to set up forever, 3 generations of families, dogs, TVs, fridges, the lot, and return year after year.

Morning all, dry with sunny spells is the forecast. Man at the Meteo has stuck his hand out of his office window, and it was still dry when he pulled it back in. Need to put a second coat of varnish on the door and window to one of the outbuildings before the sun gets round. The tin says it should last 5 years even in extreme conditions. My experience says it is more like 2 years before it curls up and leaves the bare wood exposed. Good job I bought a very large tin of it with 20% extra free. :emoticon-0111-blush

Morning all, sunny and very warm here. I think I might have to retire to the cool of the house this afternoon as it will be too hot to do anything outside. When I was in town yesterday a large stage was being set up in the market square for a concert in the evening by a local rock group. Many such events take place throughout the summer months and draw large crowds. All paid for by the town council, but the bars and restaurants think it is money well spent.
