Good weather here today for Liberation Day. My physio appointment yesterday went well - I did some squats with dumbbells, a few minutes on the rowing machine and a variation of the squats with my left foot on a box, so that all the weight went through the knee that is being treated. I can start playing softball again, but I'm going to wait until I get my new glasses - I need to be able to see the ball to either hit it or catch it!
9 years since I met the Mrs tomorrow, will wait to see if she makes it to 10 before I get her a medal.
Morning all, rather grey and there is the chance of a shower this morning. I have just had some BIO milk in my tea, the supermarket had run out of my usual one, which looks and tastes exactly the same as the normal milk I have. Comparing the old and new containers there seems to be no difference, except it tells me that the cattle were grazed in fields that had no chemical fertilizers on them. So no cost of fertilizer, surely it should be cheaper, not more expensive. Well unless the farmer has more land to move his cattle to, his yield will drop as they eat the slower growing grass, so less cattle. Economy of scale comes into it in the same way that an organic crop of carrots will produce less than one fed on factory produced stimulants. Not an easy balance to achieve.
Mornin' all. Well had a good laugh at Southampton's trip advisor review for the Marriott in Swansea after their rooms were cancelled. A desperate fan maybe??. Of course, if as seems likely that is the case, one cannot condone such action but it made me smile. Here overcast. The more I see weather reports from the guys in the UK, OFH in France, and by observation here, I'm thinking the weather seems more generally consistent, at any point in time, for Western Europe. Perhaps the cyclones that cross the Atlantic are getting bigger as well as stronger. Well today fish and chips. Shallow fried hake in beer batter and big fat chips. Hake here is really cheap (at times below 7 Euros a kilo) and is treated as we would treat cod back in blightie. Enjoy all.
Morning all, sunny and warm here today, and a huge range of tasks waiting for me. Bought some more plants yesterday that will have to go in, but still trying to clear ground for them. Mme is reorganising out patio for outside eating which includes replacing our gazebo that blew away into the garden next door last autumn, completely wrecking it. Looks as if she will need a hand with the heavy stuff. I will no doubt be suffering at the end of the day from muscle complaints.
Morning from a damp island - it would be raining while my Mum is over after having a few days of good weather.
Morning all. It is damp here as well which is a shame. One of our friends has a garden open day each year with a plant swap that we take some to and come back with what always seems more. Still they have plenty of old stone barns to provide cover while we try out some rather tasty cakes. Good job I had plenty of exercise yesterday.
Interesting evening in Bedford last night to see a Smiths tribute band with my sister. Fair to see the crowd was a little different to the ones they usually attract in London
Not quite sure where to put this. It could be happily housed in a number of threads. Our friend Lawro is exposed. At the bottom of his predictions for tomorrow is his league table based on his predictions over the season. West Brom 12th on 43 points, Stoke 13th on 37 and Watford with 22 points only above Huddersfield on 19 points. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44070182
Fellow Hornets, I've had a mad Friday night and Saturday is now levelling out. Me and the Mrs did a triathlon yesterday, but not the normal one, restaurant, bar, club. We were out until 5am and by our standards and age, that is a change. Life has gone from sex, drugs and rock and roll to red wine and films, which we are happy with. Anyways, up and about now the sun has gone down and we are well. It is bucketing it down here now and the smell from the dry earth meeting the rain is beyond words. It seems the rains are here early this year and they are heavy so far. It is a beautiful thing when the earth needs it so much and just soaks it up. Hope we win tomorrow, hope my sleep pattern means I can wake up for it. Need to nip out for supplies but not sure if I can be arsed given the rivers.
Morning all from an island with blue skies and the odd cloud. I collected my new glasses on Friday and the difference between going to the opticians with my old glasses and returning with my new ones showed how much my eyesight had deteriorated over the 2 years since I had my last eye test. The problem was that I did that during lunchtime and as I've been used to leaning closer to my screen recently, I did that Friday afternoon which I very quickly learned not to do. Hopefully, using my laptop over the weekend with it the desired distance from me will mean that I don't do it at all at work from now.
