Morning all. Sunshine and showers today, with the risk of hail this afternoon. Not very settled yet. Taking Mme to the vampires this morning for a blood test. All routine stuff. Get some pills and every six months you get a check up to see what effect they have. She is not happy as her cup of tea is not allowed.
Morning all.. My daily mobile data fix.. Cool and showers here.. And mme has a lot of washing to dry... The entire house was damp when we arrived so a lot of drying out and washing to do.. A bientot Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk
Shocking thunder storm here in our village.. Directly over head.. Lost all power and then spent about half an hour with our neighbour trying to call EDF... Our technical French is not as good as our restaurant French... Anyway went back to the house and thought we would try an old trip switch our electrician had told us he had isolated.. And lo and behold we had power again... Phew... Night [emoji561] all Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk
Lie-in this morning, Dave? Morning, mate; morning, all. Busy day today. Gonna start my annual lawnmower service. I pretend it’s a chore but I really love it.
I was a bit late then had to wait for the site to come back on it goes off for maintenance around 0430 for about half an hour
Why does that not surprise me? Glad you got your lecky back - I remember some amazing thunderstorms we had back in France.
Morning all. Sunshine and showers seem to be the order of the day. Last night Mme said she heard some thunder, but I had my earphones in so didn't notice it. I was watching Fulham v Leeds at the time. If Fulham get promoted they could be a real handful for many sides in the PL.
Yes tremendous storm here last night me lots of showers today... Managed a walk though Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk
Just been having a look at a Burnley fans forum, which arranges a coach to away games. It seems a bit of a nightmare for the organiser who has people wanting to book the coach, then find out that the club have sold out their allocation of tickets, and the person booking the coach hasn't got one. Still good luck to them. The coach leaves at 6.30 am. Lots of requests on where to park a car, and what pubs in town will let them in. Finding a Wetherspoons pub seems to be a good idea for food and refreshment. Once only for me. The cuisine was not up to standard and I prefer not to mention the ale. My away game at the Baggies was good, even if the beer was average. But there was an open air area with food and drink and large screen TVs showing the early kick off. I can well remember my days going up and down the country following WFC. In those days the beer culture didn't really exist. A hot dog and a coffee were the most likely unless there was a chippy by the ground. I guess that things have changed since the late 50s and early 60s.
I remember one West Brom trip when we chose a pub from the Good Pub Guide in which everything had been designed to be crooked. The floors sloped the wrong way, there were optical illusions everywhere and you felt a bit light-headed even before the first pint! Can't remember a thing about the game! One game at Chesterfield we were foolhardy enough to suggest the beer had been watered down. We were invited to leave! My favourite trips were to the Sheffield grounds and a pub near a National Trust Hall with great food and draught Old Peculiar. I'm fairly sure one year we beat them both...the teams not the food and ale!
And once behind the goal at Grimsby we were passed a rather large spliff! In Gillingham we stopped a local resident to ask directions about half a mile from the ground to be told there wasn't a football team in Gillingham. After watching the game we decided he was probably right!
It all seems so long ago, but I really enjoyed meeting fans from other clubs before the tribal instinct kicked in. Great lot of fans at the Dell, but a reputation at the Den that was hard to break down. One day in the south of France about 1992 I met an Aldershot fan. Small but fun ground with the High Street at one end and the the railway behind one side. He was delighted that I had been there and enjoyed my day out. They had just gone bust and he was heavily involved in trying to raise money to keep the club together. For two hours and quite a few glasses of a local roses we sat and talked football. Our wives who had met were discussing I don't know what, but couldn't believe we were still talking football. I suspect that we could have gone on all night, but the conversation might have become a little slurred.
