To Brian and Mex in particular. I am not aware that there is talk of anybody being banned. I am aware that some threads are open to people having wildly different opinions. I would just ask you to consider how poor this board would be if the only threads were on football. There are very few posters and most of those only post on the predictions thread.
LIke you though I hate personal conflict. However since my childhood I have always stood up for myself and for others I feel are bullied or wronged. It gets me into trouble and conflict sometimes.
The latest issue arose on the environment thread - not one where you might expect violent conflict. It occurred because Toby chose that thread to have a snide dig at me. He did so in a post where I had not even been posting for some time - it could have as easily been on this or any football thread. The truth is Toby has disliked me ever since as a mod I disagreed with his jokes making fun of the Welsh football manager who committed suicide. Since then at random intervals he just abuses me. If I were a better person I would ignore it - but as I say I was taught to stand up to bullies and injustice. Andy - who also hates me- mostly due to previous misunderstandings between us - joined in.
It got out of hand and I am sorry for my part. I asked the mods to delete Toby's original post and one of Andy's where he lies about the contents of a PM. That PM was over five pages and included both mods yet he suggests it was a clique. It was not - it was about my reasons for quitting the board a year ago.
For reasons I do not understand the mods have decided to leave those posts there. I suggested they take out the dozen or so posts of the whole argument as it did nobody - including me of course any credit.
I stated that if the mods were not prepared to delete posts that are pure personal attacks then I would be targeted again - as I have been for years and that I felt I would have no choice but to disappear again.
It is a shame - I enjoy the football AND other threads but I will not let others abuse me.
When I left before everyone gave their own reasons why I left. I post this so that it is clear why I have "surrendered" now. As this is my last post I hope the mods who will allow me the courtesy at least of giving a reason why I have gone rather than speculation.
I do not claim to be better than anyone but posting is supposed to be enjoyable and when it ceases to be you quit.
Sorry to hijack a non political thread but I prefer to say why I have chosen to go. I am sure others will give their alternate view if they choose. Fair enough of course. Byeee all

Edmund you make some very good points IMO.

However my reading of the recent environmental posts is that you raised the temperature a little before other posters. While I do not doubt your recollection of historic happenings there is only so long one should carry a grudge. If no one ever gives then I'm afraid we just see a downwards spiral.

I fully accept it is tough to walk away and turn a blind eye as you say, when unreasonably confronted, but you seem a guy who could handle that (as your post above demonstrates). So I appeal to you to draw a line, forget the past, and start again. Walking away resolves nothing.

I agree with you no one wants to ban people here. That is a very slippery slope. But I appeal to your better nature and say please give it a another go. As someone who likes this place I can assure you I will jump to your defence if you are attacked (and I will watch from now on as I have more time).

In recent times wayward posters have been curtailed but it took a bit of patience. So let others help. But give them time.

By the way for a neutral there is some very interesting stuff in that thread including your own contributions. I'm not saying it is all true but it is stimulating. Which I think is all forums can offer.

You're a hornet Edmund. Please please hang on in there and help this community, that I have very much appreciated for more years (remembering its previous bbc existance), grow. We don't want to lose anyone <cheers>

I should stick around Arturo. I think you will find that more people on here like you than otherwise - and, as in the Meatloaf song, two out of three ain't bad. There are going to be some personality conflicts, and these get fired up by political debates. I agree that if we only had football threads on here that it would all go very flat (even though it is the reason we are here) - unless of course football can be made into a political theme - I mean can a leftie really like the Premier League, or the developments of football over the last 20 years ? Once upon a time we were all little kids making the pilgrimage up Vicarage Road to the holy shrine - and the little kid is still in all of us. We didn't have 'political ideas' then - they kind of crept up on us as a result of this or that experience in life, which could just as easily have gone the other way. Now we've all become old (older) men righting the World from keyboards - and old men (not liking being that) get pissed off quickly. So I would say just stick in there and see what happens.

Actually threads which are likely to produce this kind of problem could be removed to the Luton Forum - nobody else is using it. Some Pompey lads colonized it 2 years ago but then got bored with it. It could even be the alternative to banning ie. sending to Luton !

This is the very reason why i stay off some Threads i did try to find the clash but did not look there. We lose true Watford fans because of nothing to do with football . l use other fans forms on facebook/WO but if i had to use only have 1 then it would be you .Every one on here knows what its like to be in the lower div (some 3 and 4) so they bleed yellow even our little bird .I dont see other people joining because of the non football Threads but how many have said they are leaving because it was not fun anymore i know of i think 4 and then there is the ones that just dont say i few do come back .And to say its boring if people are not getting personal and hello some of your strong views could be wrong

Morning all. The temperature hit 20°C yesterday afternoon meaning I could do some outside jobs without needing a coat. After a fight to get the wheel out of my barrow, what would I do without WD40, I found the small puncture, and tried a repair, but the patches I have do not seem large enough. I might have to go and buy some larger ones. The repair man has just phoned to say he will be here between 2 and 4 pm. to try and find out why our new dishwasher is leaking. They brought one in January that leaked straight away, and took it back on the van that delivered it. A week later a new or repaired one was installed, worked for a while, then last weekend started to leak again. Phoned Monday, and this afternoon was the earliest date they could get to me. Hopefully he will find the problem and fix it, rather than returning it to a workshop for another week.

Never tried WD40 on my dish washer. Always found a glass of red works best ;) SORRY totally missread that OFH. Far too early in the morning for me.

Bit envious of your 20C though. Here down in the deep south if we see this week a peak of 17C with rain we will be lucky. C'est la vie <cheers>

KC - you are a nice guy. You are right, I did raise the temperature. It is part of my nature to get very angry in response to unfairness so my reaction to Toby's post was undoubtedly a little strong and matters escalated from there. My point though is why did Toby attack me on a thread where I was not posting? Why do the mods not remove it - and the argument that followed? Toby has done it many times before and if I stay and the mods do not delete such posts it will happened again. Why would I want that - and how does it make everyone else feel? If I walk away people can do what they like as far as I am concerned. I am only one person so my absence is irrelevant.

If I thought it would not happen again you might be right. But it will and I do most of my posting on a different board where the mods delete without warning posts that are just insults. I will miss some of the posters on here - but some are on there too.

I don't want anyone to jump to my defence. It should not be necessary. If nasty posts were deleted they would soon stop. I know the board is "quiet" for now as one person who is notorious (but interesting to some of us) is absent for a while - but when he returns you can bet the board will flare up again

I have not seen wayward posters curtailed? All I have seen is some people not bother any more.

I do agree - which is why I like the non football threads. I learn quite a bit and am exposed to ideas that are challenging.

I hate being the centre of attention - although I know someone who would argue with that even. I am just one poster and my presence or absence will make very little difference. Why would I stay on here if I am not happy? 90% of people on this board are lovely - but the two or three that I clash with makes it not worthwhile for me. Even this discussion will spoil the Nest for many. I would start a thread to discuss the "Board" but it would end up nasty so why bother?

I do not want to be liked by anyone. I have as many if not more faults than most and know I can be aggressive - when I feel provoked. I just post here for fun - to discuss Watford and to enjoy a good debate - such as we had recently. Friends you find in pubs - on line we could all be monsters hiding behind a facade. All I ask is that the mods delete posts that serve no purpose as a discussion but are intended to be rude to others. If posts #579 and #590 on the environment thread were deleted I would stay but the fact that the mods do not want to delete them tells me they can be repeated without penalty. The prime mover in this has abused me on and off for years even though I ignore him except when he uses my name to insult /offend. He will do it again if I stay and I really have better things to do than be insulted.
It is my birthday on Tuesday so I will continue to view this board till then but unless things change I will move on. This board is only for fun and when it is not why post?

Can you please leave the lies out of it? And trying to vilify on this board as you have done repeatedly over the last few years?

I'm not posting on here anymore, just get over yourself ffs.

Not a single lie. Anyone can search for themselves and find that each time you and I engage it starts with an insult from you. How do you defend your post #579 on the environmental thread? I was not even there. You just cannot help yourself.
You will post here again - if I believed you - I would stay. You are a bully. If people want to see what kind of person you are they only have to go onto General Forum. You are not a pleasant person but I don't care so long as you stay away from me.
If you actually read my post above you will see I do not want it to be about me. In fact it is all about you. Even here you cannot leave alone can you?
I have responded to a couple of supportive posts and PMs but unless the mods have a change of heart you can relax in a few days.

Oh dear, man came to fix the dishwasher and having seen the water coming from under it started to investigate. Eventually the leak was discovered to be from a joint on the inlet to the washing machine that it is sat next to. Reckon it must have been knocked when the dish washer was installed, but I think I will get a bill for calling him out. :emoticon-0101-sadsm
