I wonder if any of our refs on this board will be answer this query. I know if there's shirt pulling etc. before the referee has blown his whistle before a set piece is taken, all the he can do is talk to the people concerned as the ball isn't live. However, in the Brighton v Chelsea match, Brighton had a free-kick a couple of yards or so from the Chelsea 18 yard line and near the left touchline. There were 2 Brighton players standing over it, the ref blew his whistle and one of the players picked it up and put it back on the ground before the other took it. As the ball was picked up after the whistle was blown, isn't that deliberate handball? .

Morning all, grey and damp, but very mild. Yesterday as I travelled for my monthly dinner, the evidence was everywhere of the amount of rain we have had. The town campsite near to here was partly underwater as the river that it sits alongside had burst it's banks. The mighty Vienne river which you cross as far away as Limoges in the south, or Poitiers in the north, had burst it's banks and was all across the fields where in the summer months a mobile frites van sets up stall. Thinking back to last summer we had a very prolonged spell without rain, so it is now making up for it and refilling the reservoirs.
Sad news today that Jimmy Armfield has died. He was a great player in his day, one that you knew would give 100%. After his playing and manager days finished he like GT became a very respected voice on the radio. A lovely man, and I hope he will be remembered.
