Morning all. A few light snow flurries as I came down to get a cuppa, enough for a light covering on the car but not the road. That is now over and the sun is out, but it is not very warm outside. I see that the Graham Taylor biography has had to go to a reprint and it has only been on sale for a week. I have dropped numerous hints, but not sure that anyone has taken them on board.
Paris comes to a standstill this morning as it pays tribute to one of its own, Johnny Hallyday. The scenes are similar to those in London when Diana died. He never managed to crack the English speaking market, but was hugely successful in many parts of the world. His songs and performances covered many types and styles of music, and I have enjoyed watching him in a packed out Stade de France.
A lot of frost-scraping before driving to pick up a paper this morning. A bit more writing done...97,000 words of the first draft of the latest Winfrith story now done so only the final denouement to do now.
Sorry BB...too many interruptions with this one! It'll take a couple of months to edit probably but I'll get on with it more rapidly once Christmas is out of the way. Very grateful for your continued interest though...many thanks!
Morning all from a wet and windy island - I've heard my bin being blown around at least 3 times this morning, and the alleyway it's in is relatively sheltered. I just hope that when I go out later that I don't find it in the road, or even worse, I can't see it, as that will probably mean that it's in the harbour across the road.
Morning from a snowy Bedfordshire, had about 10cm's so far and its still coming down. Shame its two weeks to early.
Morning all, wet and windy in rural France, but the temperature is back into double figures. Looks as if will be Tuesday before we see much of the sun again.
About a foot of snow outside and still coming. Starting to see mysterious footprints in the snow. We live at around 350 metres above sea level so the snow, when it comes, hits us hard. In the past we have had visits from desparately foraging animals in the garden - foxes, hares and deer. Last year we had a fox every night and had the chance to watch him, as if on TV. they actually play in the snow if they think nobody is watching. Deer are more of a problem (the sloe hedge is not thick enough yet) - I am dreading one day seeing a Boar in the garden, which some neighbours of ours have had.
Watching some pictures of the snow in the UK, where there appears to be real problems on some of the motorways. Over here I have traveled when there is heavy snowfall. All lorries are pulled off the autoroute, and a snowplough will keep at least one lane clear for cars to keep moving along. It seems to work quite well, but I suppose some areas here have similar conditions every year and are well prepared.
Morning all. A gale has been raging overnight according to my wife. I didn't notice it until she decided that she couldn't sleep and got up far too early for my liking. When it is noisy I tend to pull the bed clothes over my ears and ignore it. Still it will pass by this afternoon, and despite the telephone wires flying in all directions I still have the Internet for the present.
