I did wonder why my local team Chateauroux v RC Lens was not being played until tonight, with a kick off at 20.45. Then I realized it is for the TV, in this case Canal +. Found a decent stream for it, and amazed to see the ground with a lot more spectators than normal. It is half time and 0-0 and how Lens are not ahead is beyond me. Oh well, maybe we will improve second half and get a lucky penalty.

No lucky penalty, but it was a game of two halves. Chateauroux had chances to win, but somehow the ball would not go in at either end. 0-0 but the standard didn't really deserve more.

Morning all, it is really lovely outside, although a little on the chilly side. :emoticon-0103-cool: We are in the process of cleaning up the plant pots that will be reused shortly to spend the winter in the greenhouse. Guess who is on Jeyes fluid scrubbing duties. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Morning all from a bright part of the country. Today is the first of our two public holidays this month, with today being a family occasion. The 20 year old grandson of my neighbours has driven down from Paris and will make the trip to the cemetery to place some chrysanthemums on the grave of his great grandparents. At this time there is a blaze of colour in all of the final resting places of those who went before, a tradition that does remind people of families from the past.

I've got to go for an X-ray next Wednesday on my right knee. I had issues with it at the beginning of the year, but that seemed to have been sorted. On Saturday, it collapsed under me (for want of a better description). I saw the doctor on Monday and he seems to think it's excess fluid on the knee.

I had that once. They stuck a tube in it and waited for it to drain. Not very painful, and within a day or two it was much better. Hope it goes well for you Barry. <ok>

Morning all, a bright and warm start to the day in Rural France. Everything is getting back to normal today after the holiday yesterday, although it does look as if some of the visitors to the village are still here, probably making a week of it. Car due to be seen to this afternoon at great expense, still it will give me another two years on the road before another MOT.

Car repair not started today as judging by the number still being worked on they are running rather behind. Still I didn't really care too much when I found that my favourite mechanic Michel was back. He is around sixty years old and was told earlier this year that he had prostate cancer. When he went into hospital they found he also had a stomach growth. The garage owner told me that it was very serious and he didn't think he had a good chance of recovery. Today I was so happy to see him back after five months of treatment, looking very well indeed, and he told me that the tests carried out show he is clear. Great news even if I do have to wait until tomorrow to have my car back.

Puts things in perspective, doesn't it? Met someone today who has suffered from Crohn's disease from birth...operations, on life support machines, chronic pain, months in a wheelchair, years on steroids...but he was as cheerful and positive as anyone. And I complain about a minor muscle tear!
