Good morning all from a cool and dry Weston-super-Mare! Heavy rain on its way for most of the day! Have a good day!
Morning, Dave; morning, all. Had to drag myself up to assist our little black she-cat see off a big black tom. Not easy for someone always complaining about the dark. She's a brave girl. A bit like 'keyboard warriors', she is a 'double-glazing, inside-in-the-warm warrior'.
Jez Moxey gone, Dave. Is that good? I never liked him. At Wolves they had to widen the club's doorframes so he could get his head through...
Morning all, quite windy here, enough to ruffle the few whiskers on my head. Judging by the weather maps it is going to get worse, with a yellow warning in place. Looks as if my planned trip to the fields will be put on hold.

Sorry to ask perhaps an obvious question, I don't know FM, really, but is something you've simulated with your version of it? And if so, is it starting from current positions?
As we currently have 27 points from 23 games, to reach the totals above of 54 points from 38 games, between now and the end of the season we would have to get another 27 points from only 15 games. So some good results to come obviously. Similarly Burnley are only going to get another 10 points from their remaining 15 games for the prediction above. So time to be glad I'm not a Burnley fan.
I know that FM exists, and that is a far as it goes. I posted it as I thought some who are more savvy on such matters would know what to make of it.
Morning all. Yesterday = Yucatan coast - white sand, palm trees swaying in the breeze, turquoise sea and 36 degrees. Today = Hampshire - grey sky, bare trees, tipping it down and about 10 degrees. Still, the Arsenal result was cheering, even if it does plunge me further down the Prediction League! No more Sopa de Limon, fresh grilled grouper or shots of mezcal for a bit though.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...ns-parents-lose-libel-case-appeal-in-portugal I always felt sorry for the McCanns. I have no idea whether they are guilty or innocent (but lean heavily towards innocent) - but never understood why the press and certain baying elements of the public were so set against them. I certainly don't understand why this former Portuguese cop was allowed to get away with what he said in his book. Presumably the notion of innocent until proven guilty is the other way around in Portugal?
I think the main problem was trying to understand any parent leaving a sleeping toddler unsupervised while off to a restaurant for a couple of hours!
I think you'd be surprised how common a practice that is though. I'd hazard a guess that many of the accusatory outpourings in the press comments sections were from people who broke into a cold sweat at the thought that they had done this themselves - a sort of knee-jerk attempt to deflect away from their own feelings of near-guilt.
I think it is partially because people criticise them for leaving them alone, but I think a number of people also suggest that not enough scrutiny has gone their way, and that maybe if it was a more 'working class' family, they'd be under the microscope more Also the amount of money that has been spent on the search and the money they have personally made from it... whereas there are numbers of similar cases that have not had the same attention (again, people pointing towards their position in society and preferential treatment). I'm not saying these are my opinions... but you just have to read the comments section on any new story with regards to the McCanns to see what many people think
You're probably right with that - but I doubt any of us are in a position to say that they 'made money from it'. To me that smacks of accusing them of having 'done it for the money', for which there is no proof - for starters, how could they possibly have known how generous the public would be with financial assistance? They may well indeed have received a large sum in donations, but, equally, they may well have spent that large sum to fund the search after the authorities gave up. As it's nearly ten years since she disappeared, I doubt the truth will ever out now.
I think it's been documented that they poured millions from book sales/donations back into the search for Madelaine... but some people don't like to use facts when having a rant! I have no idea how much they have made, but no doubt they have lost much financially from the search due to not working while searching, so unlikely they have actually profited from it (as well as a massive lost, their daughter). But that's the internet for you... you will always have the trolls!
