There is something different about the fan who only wants to see the best players, and the one who supports his local team no matter what. The game I watched last night was a seven hour journey each way, yet sheltering from the rain against the indoor tennis centre there were a band of travelling supporters, about a dozen of them, with their banner to announce they were there. Devotion or madness I am not sure, yet their journey was made worthwhile with a decent enough game and a narrow win.
You've got me maudlin now - yearning for those trips to Workington, Barrow, Hartlepool and the like...
Never fished for swordfish, think they are night feeders...and move alone, the other bill fish are in groups...full moon no so nothing more to get caught unless there is something lucky involved...
Tragic news coming out of Rio tonight that a cyclist taking part in the road race has died from his injuries following a crash. The only information so far is that he came off in one of the downhill stretches of the course. I hope that it is not the same piece of road that caused riders to come off in the Olympics as it was described then as dangerous, and to have used it again without additional safety measures would be unreasonable.
Good morming all from a warm and dry Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day and good luck to your Golden Boys!
Morning all, rather grey and damp here this morning so for the first time in six months I have a shirt on that has long sleeves. To meet up with friends for dinner involves an hours drive for most of us as we have chosen a central spot. I think I cleaned the car yesterday to no avail, as by the time I get back it will have attracted mud from just about every field gate I pass.

Me too...and £5K a week when he came from Walsall? I'll have a kickabout with the grandchildren in their garden this afternoon and bill their father for the £500 my skills deserve
Obviously there is the question whether anyone is worthy of £100k a week, but it always seems like a class issue. The term "footballers' wages" is bandied about, never "bankers' wages". He plays an important role in the Premiership, which has colossal revenue stream. I'd rather he gets it, whose talent, hard work and passion merit it greater than the many, many 'suits' leeching millions from the game.
As jerzeypie said after he read the article, TD made the comment about his wages when he first arrived, but it was the journalist who said that TD was on £100k a week, not TD himself.
Good morning all from a warm and dry, for now, Weston-super-Mare. Plenty of rain arriving this morning! Have a good day!
