Not nearly enough. Not that it ever is. I know that from first hand experience, fortunately only off work for a couple of weeks with concussion, bruising and broken teeth - nothing like Nick's injuries. W******s.
Good morning from a humid Jersey - we are due to have light rain this morning and mist and fog later. Just what we need when we have 4 inter-island softball matches! I'm just going to watch as my team finished bottom of Division 2 and I'm not good enough to even get into the island B team. Even if I was good enough, I wouldn't have gone to island training as my season was disrupted by injuries. The 4 matches are the Division 2 winners against each other, the Division 1 winners against each other, then after a break for lunch, the island B teams then the island A teams. We prefer to have 2 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday, but the way inter-island travel is at the moment, it's not practical.
Morning all, weather as normal, but we have the promise at the moment of some rain next week. My son-in-law and youngest daughter's partner, are along with a couple of friends, attempting today to cycle up to the top of Mont Ventoux three times in 24 hours. There are three roads up to the top, the hardest climb being the one that the Tour de France takes when it goes there. I am not sure which order they plan to do the different routes in, but think I might try to get the worst one done first. All in a good cause, but total madness when you think that they will start on the drive back home tonight.
Good morning all from a warm and dry Weston-super-Mare. I've been awake all night with violent stomach pains, had a takeaway last night and it obviously had some garlic in it, when it eases, I'll be straight back to bed! Have a good day!
Morning all from a sunny Jersey. Horrendous day for the Jersey softballers yesterday. Our Division 2 winners won their match and we lost the other 3. It seemed to be that the worse the weather was, the more we struggled.
Morning all, just finished putting another coat of varnish on the shutters upstairs before the sun gets round to that side of the house. Not a big job, but one that needed doing as the wood had shrunk due to the heat, exposing bare patches that were not visible when I installed them earlier in the year. A quick coffee, then I must go and try to build my barriers against the deer a little higher. Daughter has a two metre high fence separating her garden from the fields, yet she found one happily chewing on some of her plants. She chased it off and it cleared the fence with ease. As I know to my cost they have quite a leap. It is not much fun when one clears a hedge and lands on your car as you are driving along.
Headline from the Yorkshire Evening Post. Leeds is Britain's Best City For Quality of Life. Next article. Polish man beaten on Leeds street by gang of 30 attackers.
Afternoon all from a sunny Jersey. Been off work today. I was feeling dizzy and had a temperature this morning but the rest means that I am feeling better. My temperature is back to normal and the dizziness is now a slight headache.
