Always read what you sign . i signed for a company to build me a small swimming pool with payments of 40%,40%20% .What they did not tell me was that i must get a fence built around it . But sold me a expensive safety cover . On the day of a court action they paid me out. But the pain of sleep less night was not worth it.
I'm glad it all worked out for you w-y, but I would still be concerned that you had to pay up front for the "large purchases". Did he not have anything in the bank to cover these? Most reputable plumbers/installers have credit accounts with the major bathroom equipment suppliers or at least have a credit source. What would be the position if he had taken the payment and then not fitted or even delivered the bath etc.? The last bathroom I had installed by a plumber (for time purposes), I bought the hardware and had it delivered - probably paid a little more than the plumber would have - but then again he would have added a bit on. Then he got paid when he had done a good job fitting it.
Our guy is a family friend..... and it works out in the end... he has done my home office extension, my daughter's new kitchen and my son's extension ... always takes twice as long as he says.....so have to budget for that I would not do a daily rate if I wasnt friends with him... but can be very exasperating......
Our contractor gives est on long jobs .On time and costs, His normal comment is about two weeks to finish (he been saying that since Jan ) LOL never says when the 2 weeks start
Watch out for the hand waggle here when a contractor says he will start in about fourteen days. Without the waggle he will probably start on time, but with it you can assume it means he will start then if nothing else crops up meanwhile.
Up here the signal is the words back'o, which basically appears to mean 'anytime after'. A promise to start at 'the back'o nine, could turn out to be three o'clock, or 'at the back'o Tuesday' could mean Friday...
OK you lovely people, very early start for me in the morning, I'll clock in next Friday when I return! Night all Night H
Didn't have any issues when I was a kid and we had a kitchen extension done but that may have been because my Dad did it himself but it took ages. He was a plumber and served his apprenticeship on a building site, so he was able to turn his hand to most things.
Nightmare three weeks trying to sort out phone line and broadband fault with BT. They were finally persuaded it needed an engineer visit, booked for somewhere between 8am and 1pm so we stayed at home to await him. He didn't turn up. The Indian call centre phoned me at 5pm to say the appointment had been cancelled because the problem was a network problem. The crackle remains, the broadband still cuts out, pictures and videos won't even begin to download. Getting in touch with anyone takes hours and then they talk nonsense. I have emailed the Chief Executive about his company's cavalier approach to customer service but he probably won't reply. To add salt to the wounds, my cricket-watching friend tells me his BT shares have been his most profitable investment over the last year or two.
Morning all from a mild & brightening West West London - hope the weather holds for the trip to WBA on Saturday. Seems an age since my last away league game. Will need to keep an eye out for the Scousers result tonight, because if they win it will push out our last away game against them.
Morning all, looks as if we will have a warm sunny day ahead of us, so plenty of outside work to be done. Mme is suffering from all the blossom on the trees and the oil seed rape that is in full flower. Pollen levels are very high at present, they are giving out warnings with the weather forecast, but as soon as it dies down she will be better. As I walk down the lanes to my fields you can smell the sweet scent in the air which is lovely, but then I am lucky and do not suffer from it.
I'm first up! Well, ... Welcome... No, that's not it... Erm... Good morning all from a bright and sunny Weston-super-Mare... from a... dark Hertfordshire.
Morning all, I have been up for a couple of hours just pottering around doing bits and bobs. There must have been a fair drop of rain overnight judging by the amount in the wheelbarrow. Still the sun is out and it will be quiet for an hour or two as Mme is going to get her hair done. A sign has appeared outside to say that the gritting gang is at work down the lane somewhere, although sometimes the sign appears long before the workforce, and remains there long after they finish.
Players who commit a foul to deny a goalscoring opportunity will no longer automatically be sent off, football's rule-making body has confirmed. The previous 'triple-punishment' rule required a red card - and therefore a suspension - as well as the award of a penalty under those circumstances. However, players committing accidental fouls that deny a goalscoring chance will now be cautioned instead. But deliberate fouls will still incur a red card. Those include holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity. So what has changed? Will some of the clubs hold coaching sessions on how to make a foul look like an accident? Most likely outcome will be more abuse for the refs.
