Morning all, bright and sunny here but a chilly north-easterly wind. Forecast is saying that temperatures should rise to 16°C by next week, so better get the tee shirts back out again. One more coat of varnish to go on my new shutters then that will be finished. This was supposed to be last winters job, but never managed to get round to it. Days are lengthening by about 3 minutes each day, but it all seems to be in the evenings. Just find it difficult to fire myself up on dark mornings, so don't try that hard these days.
First trip to the Vic in a long time. Been doing aways but must be 3 years since last home game. Coming back from Spain and my mate coming down from Ayr. We will meet up at the junction about 11am. Any thoughts on the following from you regs would be very welcome and very helpful: Best pub near junction? Best place to see Norwich early kick off? Need to collect tickets from office. Can we do that 30 mins before kick off? Cheers one and all
Hi KC - it has been a long time! There is The Flag that is right near the Junction, it's OK at night when they have bands on, but not sure about during the day. There are the 2 pubs just off to the left about half way up Clarendon Road (that I can never remember the names of) that are OK. Other alternative is pubs in the town. I would get the ticket office as early as possible - when I walk past at 14.45 there is always a LONG queue.
Welcome KC - if i have one before the match i tend to go into the town centre and drink in a place called Que pasa - used to be the Old Westminster. They have tellys in there and it's perfectly nice but there's no real ale if that's your thing. On ticket collection, you can pick them up 30 minutes before but I would strongly recommend not being any later and possibly earlier. Safe trip down and hope you, and the rest of us, enjoy the match
Muchas gracias fellow 'orns OK so maybe best we meet up in The Flag and then get down to the office and get the tickets first. Then back to Que pasa (home from home for someone living in Spain ) for the Norwich game. And then to the Vic for the 4-1 win. Then one of the Clarenden road pubs after match so my mate can get his train back north just after 8pm. A perfect day. I'll be in Watford tonight so no travelling for me. Arrived from Spain to this freezing London yesterday. And my mate already as far south as Northampton (sadly for a funeral) but compared to Ayr at least he probably thinks what is this barmy weather Should be a great game with them getting better and us needing a return to form. Can't wait. Enjoy one and all.
It's blowing a gale with horizontal rain - from my experience of Ayr, your mate will feel more than at home!
Norwich i hope you mean Newcastle this week? the ticket office is open before the ground we drink in the ground (rookery) .The flag is a great pub but remember its 20min to 30 min walk to the vic The bars inside the ground are open when the games is not in play so half time they get busy glad to see you on here , and if you end up in the rookery bar before the game il be there im the one with grey hair full beard glasses and "grandad 60" printed on the back of my shirt you are more than welcome to come over and say hi as i chat with everyone LOL
¡What a long, busy, grinding week! It´s flown by and finally Friday, out tonight so will probably miss tomorrow as tonight is up till sunrise! Have a good weekend all!!
Good morning all from a cold and dry Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day and very good luck to your Golden Boys!
We've had a few chilly days on or around 0C but it's due to climb into double figures today, so not too bad!
I'm glad that the fog we had mid-morning has lifted. I dread to think of the chaos at the airport because fog is usually densest there due to the airport being at the top of a hill. Things like that weren't considered when it was built in 1937 and we're stuck with it there as there's nowhere else on the island that a new one could be put.
