It always amazed me the importance in France of the log store. Some of the special structures housing the logs were a work of art. By the way OFH I had about 60 conifers cut down in my garden last year, will they be ready to burn yet? Weather still very mild here but expect it to turn cold soon.
Huge trees on either side of us always cover our garden in a thick carpet of leaves at this time of year. It takes hours to rake them all up and add to the leaf mould mountain! I've long resisted the leaf blower route but each year it feels more tempting, despite the racket they make.
I have spent the last two days with a leaf blower and returning the leaves in my garden to where the trees are, in the National Trust land next door. I wonder what the legal position is? Is that lovable lefties!!! Good luck with the book.
Thanks..... About psychotherapy actually and I have a fair proportion of non NHS clients.... who need it too
The trick is to put on a massive pair of headphones and listen to music so you don't have to put up with it. Admittedly you may have to move house though
Monty Don rakes his up, then runs the mower over them to start the process of them breaking down. I set my mower to the highest setting and then where there is grass collect them up with that. The trouble is that the basket fills up very quickly and you have to stop frequently to empty it. There is a blower/sucker thing on the market that can be used to collect them, it then chops them up and your mountain of leaf mold is more of a hillock.
One for you Yorkie. Just before xmas 2013 my wife and I stayed at a hotel in Belek,Turkey. We met a lovely couple with 3 youngish children from the Warrington area and spent most of the week enjoying their company. The father seemed perfect as he gave his children all of his attention and time. I actually remarked to my wife that he made me look a pretty average dad. The following August they stayed the day with us whilst on their way to one of the theme parks in Hampshire. We discussed returning en masse to Belek for the next pre xmas holiday. About a year ago I had a call from the daughter to say her mum had died. She said she could not give any details. Last week Andrew Munro was sentenced to 12 years for GBH against his daughter and 27 years for killing his wife,Clare, stabbing her 51 times. She had told him their marriage was over due to her affair with an old boyfriend. He apparently also tried to strangle his previous wife. She moved to Australia for a time as she was so frightened of him. He was obviously considered to be evil rather than insane to stand trial. This experience has undoubtedly shaken our firm belief in our ability to judge others. York, can you give any tips on what to watch out for?
Seen it and ordered one. It takes too long to convert the leaves to leaf mould without mulching so it will save time as well as reducing the volume...I hope!
That is terrible...... I am sorry.... Rule of thumb people who are too perfect, too happy.... probably are not. I have worked with all sorts... especially in a secure unit years ago.....
we cut some down this spring and are giving it two winters before using.... you could use after one on a wood burner.... depends on type of tree and weather too...and how you are storing them

Morning all, our Indian summer continues. My French next door neighbour is on his way today to Florida where he has a small house that he spends the next three months in. He has made me the official guardian of his house here having found out that to employ a company to visit it weekly and check that there had not been a break in would cost him €100 per visit. Seeing as we have no recorded crime in this hamlet I do not think it will be a problem.
