I agree that all 5 of them was true pros and we can have a go at vydra for trying to make it WBA (we could have done with him that year ) our squad looks stronger all the time

There is an interview with Adlene Guedioura on Hornet Player. He trained with Palace this morning then traveled up to the training ground at London Colney in the hope that something might happen. He is clearly overjoyed to be back. He has not lost contact with the players of last season and has received lots of good reports about the head coach. Seems he turned down a number of decent offers in the hope that a deal could be done to bring him back to Watford.

The only good thing about Matěj Vydra and Dániel Tőzsér leaving for a while are not using the odd letters in their names. á and é are easy but ě and ő are not.

I have é, è, ç and à on my keyboard. ö requires finger twisting to press three keys at one time.

We all tend to remember the good times from the past, but until GT and Elton came along we were in the same rank as Walsall and Colchester. I remember claiming that I would never go to the Vic again after a particularly turgid defeat in the Fourth Division. I think I had calmed down by the next home fixture. Some of the football was dire, even after relegation from the First Division. My last game on the weekend before I left for NZ was against Luton. It was a very depressing 0-0 draw.

It is a new era now and I would be very surprised if we end up as an average League One side in the next twenty years. If we do I don't think we will ever make it back to the top tier in my lifetime. Of course, all could change. If a European League were ever to be set up I wonder what the Pozzos would do. Similarly, what will happen when Pozzo senior dies?

Let's just enjoy the moment. That doesn't mean we should forget the past. Endean's goal at Swindon in 1969, anyone? Deary me, that is 46 years ago.

and those glory days when yes we were a journeyman club.... and so what........ Yes I was there for that goal... unforgettable... :)

I remember York, Halifax and other games away as I am sure many do... and let us not forget that millions still support those little clubs,,,,, and why not?

    ..and good morning all

Time to draw breath after a tumultuous few days. I don't think we have ever seen the likes of this at WFC.

    :emoticon-0138-think ( cant find a drawing breath emoticon ;) )

The Pozzos have certainly brought in a spending power and knowledge of overseas players clearly unparalleled.

Let us hope :emoticon-0157-sun: that it is a successful strategy for us in this league

Any one remind me of what happens now re the loan window etc??

Is it safe to come back?

I bet there was a Meltdown on here yesterday with all the changes that occurred.

One move that caught my eye on Sky yesterday - Marvin Sordell was released by Burnley!

    Safe i HOPE!

Sad about Sordell.... and still young... perhaps a spell with a lower league club?

Former England under-21 striker Marvin Sordell has had his contract with Burnley cancelled by mutual consent.

The decision was taken after the 24-year-old forward scored just once in 21 games during a dismal spell at Turf Moor.

It represents a dramatic fall from grace for Sordell who was tipped for a golden future when he signed for Premier League Bolton in a £3million deal from Watford in 2012.

Sordell celebrates scoring a goal against Tottenham in the FA Cup - the only goal he scored for Burnley

At that stage he was already a regular under-21 international and went on to be part of the Team GB Olympic squad under manager Stuart Pearce.

However, the last three seasons have been nothing short of disastrous for the forward who also had to cope with suffering racial abuse at a match against Millwall.

He was relegated from the Premier League with Bolton and left the club for Burnley last summer having scored eight goals in 29 matches.

However, he never won a regular first-team place under Sean Dyche and on Tuesday they both agreed to make a clean break.

The 24-year-old impressed for England's Under 21s but has failed to develop over the last few seasons

A statement from the Championship club confirmed: 'Clarets striker Marvin Sordell's contract has today been cancelled by mutual consent.

'Sordell made 17 appearances in the 2014/15 season and scored one goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.

'So far this season, the 24-year-old striker has made four substitute appearances for the Clarets.

'Burnley Football Club would like to thank Marvin for his efforts and wish him well for the future'

I was also at that match, if my memory serves me well Swindon had just won the league cup and were vying with us for promotion, not sure who was promoted with us?
Was that also the year the wall fell down at Oxford? I think Ron Atkinson played for them.

Can we add Scullion's goal at Man U or the semi final against Chelsea at WHL, great memories but the football Zola's team played throughout that first season was often sublime. Who can forget Chalobah's goal at Leicester, it stunned the home crowd into silence.

Morning all - well thank goodness that's over with! I can only speak for myself but got the impression others felt relatively similarly - much of the anxiety yesterday was because the madness going on was something that as a watford fan I'm not really used to and didn't like and the players we saw go were a signifcant part of such an amazing couple of years.

On the plus side, if we're going to be part of this then we couldn't be in better hands than the Pozzos. It was funny how it all worked out though with Guedioura being pretty much the last signing to be announced - that created a massive feel good factor. Right - onwards and upwards

Sæl öll. Tea and coffee, donuts and fruit are on the bar.

Half and half coffee for Brian
    Black coffee for Bragi

I am happy the transfer window has been closed. The silliness was getting sillier. Why did we need to sell or loan so many and buy even more? Our players were all good and are the new ones better?

One thing I was nearly happy about was Leicester City sign winger Dyer, then to discover the player was Nathan and not Lloyd.

I am also glad that the whole thing is over Ak. as you say the silliness was getting sillier by the minute - I guess the answer to your question is that the grass is always greener in the other field. We presume that people who have been scoring in eg. the Belgian league must be better prospects than those who have been tried and tested in the Championship ? I remain unconvinced by what is going on, and fear for the future. I want to see that the Pozzo's are capable of employing a manager who they are prepared to leave in place for the 3-4 years it needs to actually build a team rather than the group of individuals they are at the moment. Will there ever be another player who attains the status of 'legend' at our club - another Scullion, Blissett, Mooney or even Doyley....hard to imagine at the moment.

Yes fooled me almost too! <laugh>

I guess the great thing about the GT era was.. .the team... GT was expert at building a team that was greater than the sum of the players. I do hope we can now have a period of stability with one coach and a core of players of prem quality.

and yes Zola's teams were great for a season too... shame he lost his nerve with us as i really liked him.

I am still trying to understand why we needed a completely new team, even if Heurelho Gomes, Craig Cathcart, Troy Deeney, Ikechi Anya and a few others survived. I think we have seen what a lion does when he takes over a group, he kills all the kittens of the last ruler or in our club get rid of as many players as he can.

Is it true Gino stopped him getting rid of Troy Deeney?
