Tonight we are on orange storm alert. Monday night "storms starting in Spain may be violent, accompanied by gusts of up to or exceeding 100 km / h, heavy rain giving totals of 20-30 mm, or even up to 50 mm in 1-3 hours, heavy hailstorms and a significant electrical activity, "warns Météo France. My internet provider has sent me texts telling me to unplug the modem, phones and TVs. It is feeling a little cooler at 28°C now, after 36°C this afternoon. The clouds rolled in within an hour after a cloudless day and I carried out my watering in case it passes us by. So far there are some rumbles in the distance and a flash of lightening in the South West. Might have to shut things down if it get closer.
For anyone who lives near the North west London area and is not going to Goodison my local pub is showing the game live. I am not about to advertise it here but if you PM me more than happy to give you the details.
Morning all, the storms did arrive last night, but were nowhere near as bad as the forecast. We had one downpour that lasted five minutes and Mme tells me there was a similar one later that I slept through. One large bang overhead, but most of the activity was some distance away. Rather doubt that it will have had much effect on re-filling my water butts. The next set of showers is forecast for Friday, but that could change long before we get there.
Oh no...... not my way? I left the phone plugged in... have had a new surge fuse fitted in the electrics though.... but wouldn't save the phone..
Sæl öll. Tea and coffee, donuts and fruit are on the bar. I can start the big list again if you all wish.
Morning all, something large and cold would be appreciated ak at this time of the year. Talking of drinks I see that Evian FC have signed a G. CAMPANHARO (CA Bragantino, BRE). He will no doubt enjoy his Ligue 2 Friday nights in front of a few thousand spectators. I cannot believe just what a poor standard of football takes place in this the Championship level of French football. Seems as if the entire seasons budget for some of the teams is less than some players at PSG or the EPL can receive in six months. After their relegation last season I will be spared from watching Chateauroux who now play in the National Ligue which is made up of professional and amateur teams. If relegated you can spend two seasons as a pro team, then if you do not get promoted you lose that status. All rather different to five leagues of professionals in England.
Now you know where I got my name from. When I lived in Brazil between 1991 and 1993 I decided CA Bragantino were the team for me and I saw them 44 times, along with trying to see every team from the Brazilian Serie A, that didn't take too long with four teams in the top divison based in São Paulo and Santos forced to play big games there too, as their stadium was considered too small. Anyhow Gustavo, who is a central midfielder, has been out on loan with Hellas Verona for all of last season where his loan finished and one month later he is signed out on loan to Évian for the year to June 2016. He has dual nationality. He isn't that old either and has 7 goals in his 77 matches. Funny there is nothing of this on the clubs website or the major sport channels, probably as Bragantino are such small fry.
I thought you would like to know we are supposed to have rain and 9C. We have 10C and a break fin the rain for lunch.
Oh dear, Ak! It's been 15C here for the last couple of days. Winter conditions are predicted to arrive soon, though.
37°C here and no breeze. Went to meet a roofer in town and he failed to turn up. He has just received a few of my choice thoughts. He claims that he couldn't contact me due to there not being a mobile signal. Unfortunately there are so many dead spots here he might just have been telling the truth. It doesn't help when the temperature is so high, you are not in the best frame of mind.
Every time I come home from work and there are messages on the answerphone it is always about claiming mis-sold PPI. Has no-one told these idiots that the money has been put aside by the UK Government and that Jersey is not part of the UK? I assume they do the same with Guernsey and IoM residents.
