Fun morning! I got the train from Frankfurt Airport to town at 6.30. The journey is scheduled for 15 minutes. Before we reached the next station the train stopped. It was there for 3 hours. A relief train arrived and I got off at the next stop and returned, immediately, to the airport. Who says the Germans have no sense of humour. Before that I passed out on the plane at the start of a 12 hour flight. I took too much of my restless leg medication and my blood pressure dropped. Lufthansa promptly moved me into club class. I think I will do that again. (Don't worry, I won't . It was a bit scary. I haven't done that in years.) Now for London.
Morning all from a cloudy St. Helier. Went to see the comedian Milton Jones at the Jersey Opera House last night, and he was brilliant. If anyone here is going to see him at the Watford Coliseum tonight, you're in for a comedic treat, although the majority of the first half is given over to his support act.
Morning all, I seem to be doing a lot of hanging around at present waiting for telephone calls. The garage that has my car at present in Limoges may have the new clutch fitted today and will phone to let me know. When they tried to phone to give me a cost for the work they kept receiving the message that my landline number was unknown, so finally got through on the mobile. That in itself was an achievement as we have a very weak signal in the village. My youngest can never get through to my home number, although the other three have no problem and I can phone out. All very strange, so I phoned the telephone company who wanted details of numbers and times of people who had failed to get through. They will investigate and phone back next Wednesday between 2-3 pm. All this technology is great when it works, but you can waste a lot of time when it fails.
please log in to view this image OFH, what do you know about this French whisky? Is it worth me buying a bottle?
Sorry Dave, I wouldn't have a clue. I never drink it from whatever source as I don't like it. Anyway my doctor told me I was fine with beer and wine, but to leave spirits alone.
£40 seems a bit steep. You can buy direct for €46 which at today's exchange rate is about £28, delivered free if you buy three bottles. People who have bought it seem to like it though. "A whiskey with a Breton character, proud and strong. The first tasting surprises you, the second takes you to the pleasure. A surprising whiskey French and resourceful it is necessary to have in your basement." Does your flat have a basement?
Was at the Elton concert last night at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow wearing my best golden shirt (I think I saw another), got some funny looks. Band and show was was much better than last time I saw him at the Southampton Guildhall 40+ years ago. Earlier Mrs S spent a lot in J Lewis whilst I was in the "toy" dept discussing sound bars, took my eye off the ball there . Had a tasty meal in Jamies before the show but it's a tad expensive in reality. Was down south for my little bros 60th birthday last w/e a good get together with family and friends.
Morning all from my little bit of France where we have a beautiful summers day. My next door neighbour has been hard at work in his garden for a couple of hours making the most of the fresh feeling that will disappear as the hands on the clock move round towards midday. Now I have the car back I have to get the paving slabs out of the boot that have sat there for the past week, transport them down the fields, then lay them. Strangely Mme said she would come down and potter around down there. Think it was because I told her there were a lot of strawberries and raspberries that needed to be picked before the birds had more than their fair share.
