On the few occasions I get to the Vic must say that I enjoy the antics of Harry the Hornet, hence the picture to the left. Anyone know who he is in real life? Sure that H must have had a cuddle from him. Anyway, I read this this evening. "Today Harry the Hornet became the new Guinness world record holder for the fastest mascot runner to run the London Marathon." Doubt somehow that he was supporting the charity known as B.A.Z.
I do know him, as it happens, and have had a little hug lol. He's a lovely bloke whose dad is involved in the club too but doesn't have the same suit lol. I don't know for certain but I was told that it wasn't him running yesterday though if it wasn't, i don't know who else would have access to the kit! He is the best mascot by a country mile but his personality is very different to what you'd expect! Lovely bloke though
Proof, if needed, that the club really can do no wrong right now. They should take the £80 million (or whatever it is) now and stick it on a horse in Saturday's 2000 Guineas - that would wipe out any FFP issues at a stroke!
Morning all, wet and grey outside, but there is a yellow glow inside the house that is comfortable to live with. Just been reading a bit while drinking a coffee. Need to line the stomach if I am about to attack the supply of drinks that ak has provided. Quite a good read, but it does suggest that we shouldn't get too attached to our star players. http://www.wsj.com/articles/pozzo-effect-pays-off-for-european-soccers-family-concern-1430079232
I am not so worried.... .as we have to stay in the prem to reap the benefits.....they wont want to weaken our squad... will they..
Whenever we are tempted to worry about the Pozzo business plan and their propensity to sell their best players, we should take a deep breath and consider the alternatives (as a relatively small club amongst the giants now) that would otherwise be available. I, for one, would take the selling of Deeney, Ighalo, Vydra, Abdi etc. at their peak value in exchange for a constant influx of talented youngsters and a proper seat at the the top table of English football for the foreseeable future over the rank uncertainty of life in the second (or even third) tier with little money, dubious owners and having to sell our best players at bargain prices simply to keep the club solvent.
Totally agree. I really hope some of the family are there on Saturday and come onto the pitch so we can show our gratitude. It promises to be a very special afternoon. One of my friends is a Wednesday season ticket holder and is coming to the match - said he can't wait either!
Totally agree with this -and even more - if we were to get relegated we are now far more likely to do a WBA or similar and become a club that bounces back quickly as they will continue to operate on a sound financial basis so the financial "disaster" of relegation is not likely to be as harsh
I realised something earlier today - Saturday is exactly 34 years since I was a mascot (2nd May 1981). The reason I mention it is that it was at home to Sheffield Wednesday! Wouldn't mind a repeat of the score from that day which was a 2-1 win. I imagine that there will be a few continuing the celebrations in the town on Saturday after we're done at the ground - jerzeypie and I were wondering where any of you might be heading.
