jerzeypie's flight back to Gatwick from Jersey was delayed because of the knock-on effect of that strike - he was supposed to take off at 8.40 but he'll be taking off at 9.50
Evening all from a mild evening in Bandit Country. Many thanks for your kind words - had some good news in that the Liver Function test and Potassium level in blood are now back to almost normal and the scan showed that I have a bit of a fatty liver, but that will improve with my new diet and exercise regime. Of course I will need to have a couple of pints on Saturday, but I will have a bottle of water in between each. Thankfully just a few matches remaining to get through!
Good morning all from a very mild Weston-super-Mare! Pleased to hear your good news Barry! Have a good day!

My friend and equally devoted hornet was caught up in it - suggested they should all be sacked like in USA - and given jobs back under new rules. Apparently the govt. in France is incapable of standing up to them. That said, he was taken to a 3* michelin restaurant in Paris (pre Catalan ?)the following day, so life isn't all that grim after all. The ambience is something of an improvement on 'the moon under water'. I am intrigued by the seeming inconsistency as follows... Large numbers of English people live in France , rather than UK out of choice, and, in my experience, have enough money to be able to choose where they live. ( I live there myself for 3-5 months a year, so am not speaking out of envy or jealousy). Then a lot of these large numbers slag off the French 'system' at every opportunity - particularly the workers, strikes, bureaucracy, number of govt. employees. Curious.
I think that may be down to human nature - try living in Australia in areas where large groups of English migrants congregate & you'll see and hear exactly the same.
Good morning all from a damp and mild Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day and good luck to your Golden Boys!
Morning all from the French countryside. Not a breathe of wind here which pleases me as there will be nothing for the test masts to record that have been put in place to see if wind turbines are viable. The next commune tests showed not enough wind, the inspector who held an inquiry said "not enough wind", but if the powers that be in Poitiers think there is some money to be made by having them then they might still be erected, but even higher. Still enough of that, it is warm and sunny and ideal to get some jobs done outside.
And here autumn is well set in. There is even a forecast of snow on high ground. It is 6.30 and still dark. Outside I can hear the wind howling. Meanwhile I am taking the day off work because Mrs NZ is having an operation to deal with her piles. I'm sure you wanted to know that! And I'm sure that she would be delighted to know that I have told you that. Isn't anonymity wonderful!
