The relationship is about China wanting influence in the Arctic Council because they want the natural resources there and have no Arctic Ocean coastline of their own, so they are very friendly. China tried to buy some of Ãsland in 2012 to have a coastline on the Arctic but were told they could not. China is an observer of the Arctic Council. They also want easy access to the Atlantic Ocean instead of goaing around south east Asia and trying to deal with pirates from Somalia or traverse the Panama canal. And there is a business interest in fish as well, China is the biggest fishing nation and Ãsland 15. biggest. China would not bother with us if there was no benefit for China.
