Good morning all from a dry and cold Weston-super-Mare, rain promised for later, just what we need in Somerset! Have a good day and good luck up in Leicester!
Morning all from a bright & sunny bandit country. I went to the saw-bones yesterday about my leg that has been giving me gip for months, he thinks it's a nipped nerve and gave me some tablets to take. I have to take 1 before I go to bed - says on the packet it mat cause drowsiness. Well the bugger has knocked me out, just woken up and feeling drained. But my leg feels much better..
Wet and windy here, no outside jobs today I am afraid. It didn't stop the hunt waking me up with the hounds baying, but they have moved on without any gunshots.
Guns?? Monsieur Renard is treated more humanely than Mr Fox then... Blue skies again up here, although it did rain overnight - and a slightly bracing 5C. Perfect for watching football indoors....
Humane? You should see some of the traps that are on sale. On the notice board outside the local town hall is a list of the farmers who have permission to use traps and how many. We see far fewer foxes here than we did in our country location in England, but lots more deer and wild boar. We lived in a village where three different hunts met, and would have one or other of them around just about every week in season. Their success rate was minimal and after they had moved on we could see the foxes come out of the cover. There is quite a strong movement here to reintroduce wolves into the countryside now, but where they live in increasing numbers down in the south there has been a large increase in the taking of lambs. To get the balance right between humans and animals seems to be difficult, and leads to extremes on both sides. A local vet who had a paddock where he kept and treated injured wild animals was forced into closure when he started to receive threats from animal rights groups associated with Brigitte Bardot. It seems that they don't approve of using methods that can help an animal recover from injury.
Hey everyone! I'm back home again- exactly 2 months after going into hospital. By crikey it's been a long haul. Great to be back home and looking forward to two points this afternoon (ahem). I now have a diagnosis, after 3 years of uncertainty the neurologists are pretty sure I have MS. Yes, a bummer, but at least it is a known, high profile condition with lots of research and support behind it, and is a known known, better than the nebulous mutterings I've been offered previously. Its also now easier to tell people what I have (quicker to write on benefit forms too!) Hey ho! In hospital I had a great Health Care Assistant who was from Mauritius. He'd lived in Vicarage Road and worked at the Vic as a waiter in the executive boxes. Always ready for football chat, though due to other family connections in favour of MUFC. A ray of sunshine as I whiled away the time in a physio rehab unit which was essentially a geriatric ward. Now for some serious catching up of recorded Pointless episodes and other telly. And 6 Nations on the telly this afternoon. Hope all of you going up to the midlands today have a great afternoon. Wave as you go by MK.
Good to see you on here Gordon and good luck with the ongoing health issues. I should tell you that Mozart is not a pointless answer in the classical music round!
So glad that you are home GG. Let's hope that you can kick on from here, although kicking might not be possible just yet.
I should like to see live Cathars re-introduced into the south of France alongside the Catalan and Provencal tongues. The French tourist industry makes enough money from their heritage!
Welcome back GG. You go away for a while and get back to discover that we've all moved into a new nest!
A good article here from the Indie. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-city-is-building-a-global-brand-9116168.html
