Mrs Fez does, I am a whisky man.
We were at Hill House this afternoon. After Lanhydrock in Cornwall this is now my favourite! Love the house, the Deco (preceeds Art-Deco by 20 years, stunning interiors) and especially the external screen scheme employed to try and save the house.

Morning all. Bright and dry today, but it looks as though rain is on the way for the rest of the week if the météo is correct. Another family of English part timers have returned to the village, and soon after a cup of tea, out came the lawn mower. What with running repairs to the house, trying to stay on top of the garden, a holiday home can be a place for intensive labour. One of the families is now trying to work out the best way to keep on top of everything as the number of visits they used to make has been curtailed by Brexit. They have worked out that after the current stay they cannot come back until the end of September. Costs have also rocketed for the journey, and the paperwork for their two dogs cost £100 each. They are not happy. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

The new Labor government in Australia isn't wasting much time in making its intentions clear. The new PM's cabinet includes a 'Minister for the Republic' - I suspect that sometime over the three year term, a referendum will be held on ousting the UK monarch as head of state.

I remember the last such referendum in 1999, when Howard's right wing government deliberately chose a rather provocative question which obviously angled for a No vote - asking the electorate if they wanted to retain the monarchy or have a President elected by the parliament. I know that the grassroots feeling in Queensland was that they wanted to have their own vote rather than only politicians having a say - and Howard knew that too.

Afternoon All. Currently visiting Brodick Castle on the Isle of Arran. Bright sunshine! Rained a bit while waiting for the ferry but so far so good. A walk around the gardens to burn a few calories off is the order of the day!

Glad you had no trouble catching a ferry - the press and opposition MSPs have been trying to stir up trouble for ages about how they are not running, even though they have been.

If you like wandering around the gardens, Inverewe Botanical Garden and Estate is worth a visit - in Poolewe, not far from Gairloch. Just a tad further north though, and the roads are 'awkward'...;)

Morning all. A little rain here overnight, but that has blown over and the sun is now out. The forecast for the coming few days is not good, so I really need to get and do a bit more sowing. Daughter, husband and dog expect to arrive here on Saturday, so Mme is in full on cleaning mode. I have a few cans of Old Speckled Hen that will disappear to an unknown spot if I don't move them first. I did think that it might be good to take one down the fields, but concluded that I might get too comfortable and not do what is required. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

A rather pleasant sunny day here today, so took the opportunity to cure the dog's cabin fever with a walk up the hill...

She loved it, but it nearly killed me...

Lovely picture BB. I really miss seeing the sea, so park myself well away from it wherever I live. <doh>

    Evening All.
Glasgow today. Will probably try and get back for a long weekend or midweek break. More research required before we do. The MoMA was disappointing, the Riverside Museum was excellent. The city centre was starting to fill up with football fans at lunchtime.
Last evening in Scotland tonight, early doors start in the morning. Just been told we're having breakfast half an hour earlier than advertised. Just finishing off the packing, bags out of the doors at 6am. Long day tomorrow!

Morning all. A clear blue sky, but rain is forecast later. Worked hard yesterday to prepare a patch for some French beans. Everything was ready, only to find that the seed had become damp, and was showing signs of mould. Too late to get some more, so will have to get some today. All I wanted was a good nights sleep, so at 5.30 am we had a massive thunderstorm directly overhead, with some heavy rain. Mme is wondering what she will find in her car as she left the sun roof partially open. So off to Bricofer where you take your chances with the swallows that fly in and out of the open doors, and search amidst the tractor parts for a tap washer. At least I know where the seeds are kept. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Good Morning All. On the way home on the A74M just passing Lockerbie. Had a grand time with excellent weather. A few days booked in Herefordshire from tomorrow where I've been told to expect the inclement weather that we didn't get on this trip.

About 20 minutes prior to that you would have passed our old 'family seat' - Moffat. A couple of nice little towns with a couple of nice little hostelries.

Stopped in Moffat at the coach park. Did so last time we were on our way home too. Be good to stop there on our way up next time and visit a pub! 09:30 is a bit early for me...

Ahh - the tourist trap that is the Woollen Mill.

Haven't been there for a while now, but the Black Bull Inn used to be my local - none of the other pubs sold real ale - and was always worth a visit. It must be time for me to get down there again, I haven't been for around 3 or 4 years & both my parents are buried in the local cemetery.

Yes, it is a bit of a TT but we just had a cuppa, a bacon roll, and a wander. Not much else to do at that time of day really.

Morning all. Overnight rain which is fine, but warm and steamy this morning which is not so good as there is not even a tiny bit of breeze. Being sent off to do the shopping as Mme is preparing for our visitors. A list that had about six things on it has suddenly expanded to about sixteen, and half the things I don't have a clue where the supermarket now keeps them since the refit. Might take a bit longer than my ten minute dash in and out. Have a good day everyone. <ok>
