I guess my best bet may be the annual Beer Festival in Nairn - about 50 miles from here - in October. Unless Asda or Lidl suddenly start stocking it.
Have tried some of their other offerings - not really a fan. A couple of Christmases ago my son in Aberdeen turned up with a mixed carton of 12 - three of us each tried one and left the rest (left them out for the binmen last Easter). Maybe it's just me, but I much prefer bottled beer to canned beer.
Fair enough. We think canned beer has improved immensely. We both prefer canned Tribute to bottled, yet Old Peculiar is preferred in the bottle. Obviously ideally draught is best. The Moose Mousse was actually purchased in error, Mrs Fez mistaking it for yhe delightful Purple Moose from the Moose brewery in Porthmadog.
Good morning... A record yesterday.... Did five cafes on a friends Birthday walk ...around Hebden Bridge. Heptonstall and Hardcastle Craggs Lovely drive over the moors from N Leeds via Haworth and Oxenhope as the steam train chugged by in the valley below 1. Coffee on arrival in a little riverside cafe 2. Uphill to Heptonstall... a short steep slog for late 'breakfast' 3 Along and down Gibsons Mill at Hardcastle Crags for Tea and Mmes Banana Bread 4 Walk through the woods and down along the river back to Hebden Bridge and the Tibetan Kitchen for a three dish curry and rice for £7 plus great momos and 'Tsampa balls' 5 Coffee and drinks at a little bar. A great way to celebrate a birthday on a mild sunny day perfect for walking.......
Morning all. Another fine morning, but the grass along the lane to my fields is so long and wet still that the mower would not cope with it. The only answer is to take the strimmer to it, then go over it again with the mower. This takes quite a time, but will have to be done today as rain is forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday. Then there is grass in the fields that has to be cut, and that is before I actually start to do any gardening. Although warm at the moment the soil still feels cold, so need to put up my poly tunnels to raise the temperature for some early planting. Have a good day all.
I'm looking forward to it - hopefully it will mean a thorough clear out, decent replacements and a change of tack from Gino regarding his view on managers.
Morning all. Quite a change in the weather with light showers and a temperature that has dropped by ten degrees. One of the fields quite close to the village has a bird scarer that sounds like gun fire every twenty minutes. Two bangs, so sounds like a double barrel shotgun being let off. It must have a timer as it stopped at 8.00 pm yesterday and the first blast was at 8.00 am today. The peace and quiet of the countryside! Have a good day everyone.
Maybe, we can but hope. Just hope we can financially deal with it. I am sure some players will leave, so let's hope we can get a decent sum for them. 30 mil for Sarr, 10 for Dennis and I am guessing we should be ok. It was 37 degress here Sunday, unheard of. Now, it is lashiing it down for the first time this year. Maybe, the rains are here early.
Morning all. A better one today, dry and the sun is breaking through some light high clouds. Just been trawling through the French press, which reports in detail on rotting beetroot on a UK farm that has lost it's EU market at a cost of £90,000 to the farmer, and how cow manure is being mixed with household waste to produce electricity and fertiliser in India. Such items of news compete on an equal footing with the Presidential debate between Macron and le Pen on TV tonight. I haven't even reached the sports news yet. Have a good day everyone.
Morning all. Bright and warmer again as there is no wind at all at the moment. Gave my language skills a bit of a bashing by watching the debate between Macron and le Pen last night. I don't think that she did very well, looking bemused at detail. Like Johnson she speaks in broad terms, rather like the headlines in a tabloid newspaper, but the real substance is beyond her. I was reminded of a scholar in a university lecture who didn't have a clue about what the professor was going on about. Still that was only my impression and Sunday will show what the French population thinks. Have a good day everyone.
If the ultra conservative libertarian spawn of a fascist pig gets into power in France then there will be real, real, problems.
The problem is Fez that she has a range of policies which can also appeal to the left in the absence of another candidate. She believes in protectionism vs free trade, separation of investment from retail banking, is opposed to privatization of public services, and opposed to speculation on international commodity markets. she also wants to take France out of NATO and the US sphere of influence and is strongly critical of NATO policy in the East. I find myself agreeing with her on most of these - so will people on the left who support her economic policies close their eyes to her views on immigration ?
As you might imagine polls were conducted straight after the debate, which gave Macron a 60/40 win basically. The real interest has been how the very left wing candidate who polled over 20% in the first round would see his vote split between the two. Not a great deal of difference, but slightly more than in the general poll supported Macron. Possibly the most telling point at the current time, was Macron showing the le Pen policy on VAT would help the rich more than the poor.
Don't get me wrong, I am also uneasy with the USA influence given what's been going on over the past few years especially but she is quite inclined towards putin and that is way beyond the pale for me. She's tempered her racial views, toned down from her ghastly father, but she is still a wolf - a highly unpleasant one at that.
