Should I trust a Mexican @Mexican Hornet? My investment in bitcoin has taken a bit of a battering over the last few days. Not that I'm a billionaire - by battering I mean I'll be down about 250 euros if I sell now... https://news.bitcoin.com/mexicos-th...in-forget-about-selling-youll-thank-me-later/
Morning all. Overcast and chilly still, but there is hope that tomorrow the sun will appear and it will warm up again. It is a month since Mme took her car out, so as she wanted it today thought it might be a good idea to make sure it starts. It was a regular event to get the jump leads out and connect it to my car until I became fed up with doing it on a cold wet morning, so a new battery was installed. Pleased to say that it started straight away today, so that was a good investment. Have a good day everyone.
It's my wedding anniversary today - and I thought I'd surprise my wife by cooking her favourite roast dinner tonight. After all our years together, you'd think I would know not to plan surprises - as she walked out the door to go to work this morning, she casually said "I've booked a table at the pub - I'll go there straight from work, will meet you there at 6:30..." On the bright side, as I normally cook roasts in a slow cooker for around 8 hours, I didn't have to get up early to start - and managed a nice lie-in this morning. Now I've got to think up a good excuse for not cooking tomorrow night - don't want to risk missing the Palace match.
Today can put 10kg on my recovering foot. Foot rehab sucks. But, a few more weeks and should hopefully be released into the wild again. Hope you all have 2 operating legs and are well.
Morning all. Another grey day currently, but sunshine is forecast later this morning. A shopping trip to Limoges is called for as a granddaughter will be having her 17th birthday next week, and a present is required that we cannot get locally. We might have some lunch while we ate out, but agreed we will only do so if it is not crowded. Restrictions are being slowly eased, which seems sensible. From the information given out yesterday it is possible that depending on target numbers being reached, the remaining regulations could end by April. Have a good day everyone.
VIsit to York this morning....lots of flooding alongside the river.. the much vaunted flood defences appeared not to have stopped the regular flooding of bars and restaurants along the riverside
Did you find any socks? https://www.jorvikvikingcentre.co.u...ock, crafted, important artefacts in the North.
She did - and, as always, it was a lovely meal. A rather basic pub, run by a really friendly Irish lady and with an excellent chef. Being a Tuesday evening we had the dining room to ourselves - but were serenaded by the local choir who were practising in the adjoining function room and left the door open for our enjoyment.
Morning all. Dry and sunny currently, but rain expected this afternoon. Nothing much to be cheerful about today after last nights display, then waking up to the news about Ukraine this morning. Will go and cut up some logs in case it turns colder again and the wood burner has to be pressed into action again. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
I think you're right - this raises the possibility that virtually the whole of Europe could be adversely affected by Chernobyl again. Although, somewhat ironically, the current wind direction suggests that any fallout would be blown in the direction of Moscow.
Morning all. A bright sunny morning if not warmed up greatly yet. Once again football fans seem to have captured the mood outside of the stadia around Europe by taking flags and banners inside the grounds to protest at the Russian action. Will it spread to English grounds I wonder, especially to Chelsea that has the most obvious connections? Calls going out for the Russian F1 GP to be cancelled, so will voices be raised enough for that to happen, as with the Champions League final that will now be played in Paris? It is clear from the protests inside Russia that many ordinary people are prepared to break the laws by going out onto the streets to protest against their own government and risk a spell in jail. I wonder if in that situation I would be out there with them? Have a good day everyone.
I'm not sure of the latest regarding the proposed Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill - but if the government/Patel get their way I'd imagine that UK jails would be quickly overflowing with protesters.
Ireland has created a full visa waiver for Ukrainians seeking refuge. The UK has stopped accepting visa applications from Ukrainians stuck in the country, meaning there is no safe and legal route for them to seek asylum in Britain unless they have British relatives. Well done to Ireland. Does Scotland have it in its powers to do the same?
Morning all. Bright and sunny and should warm up a bit as the day progresses. Went into town to do the shopping yesterday and was pleased to see that the almond trees in the supermarket car park are now in full pink blossom mode. Looking at the pear tree in our garden the buds are swelling up, so it will not be long before that has flowers on it, which will attract the bees. So the seasons change as normal and life is quiet in the countryside unless you are a field mouse that has been spotted by a buzzard looking for another meal. Have a good day one and all.
