There were a few things I didn't mention. My tee shirt in addition to numerous ventilation points caused by brambles, also has a rather chequered pattern on it from some rather slippery rice that fell off my fork last night. My gardening trainers are at the point where my big toe is starting to appear and my last contact with the razor was a week ago. Even I felt that added all together I didn't look quite up to farm worker standard.
That explains it a bit more. I'd have probably still gone but I have no shame and like embarassing my little brothers
Morning all. A lovely morning with only a few vapour trails in the sky to change the all blue colour. Tonight I can go to a restaurant for a meal providing I am home by 11.00 pm. I don't think I will, but arrangements are underway for a get together with friends in a couple of weeks time. Seems I can also go to Corsica if the mood takes me now that I have my health pass. It sounds as if it will be crammed full in July and August, so will give it a miss. Been putting it off, but will have to do some shopping today. I wonder what offers will be in the cave today? Have a good one whatever you are doing.
Afternoon folks. Currently on holiday on the east coast. Glorious weather, country walk this morning. All manner of activities and sunbathing. Relaxing, just what I needed. Enjoy your day.
Morning all. Another fine very warm day in store for this part of rural France. Plenty of bargains at the supermarket yesterday, including decent everyday wine at €2 a litre. There were also some very good buys elsewhere that I will not go into as it could upset the vegetarians in our midst. The supermarket restaurant was open again with their choice of plat du jour, but apart from a few people having a cold beer on the outside terrace, it was deserted. News that our Prime Minister Jean Castex is having to self isolate again as his wife has been in contact with a positive case. This is the third time in a year that he has had to stay at home, yet has never tested positive himself. Better safe than sorry! Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Morning all. Not a cloud in sight, yet the man at the météo tells me to expect sunshine and showers this afternoon. What he also tells me to expect is a temperature of 29°C, but it will feel like 35°C. That is seriously stay still with a cold drink to hand temperature, so a little rain would mean that I don't have to go for a walk with my watering can. Have a good day whatever the weather.
Morning all. Another very hot day expected here. A few large clouds slowly crossed the sky yesterday afternoon, but no rain. A large, fat green lizard, about 8" long has been gently removed from the house and placed in a far more suitable spot. Quite what it expected to find indoors I don't know, but I would rather not accidentally tread on it. There appears to be a flurry of house buying here, with plenty of sold signs going up, but not for my next door neighbour. It is good for the local economy to have the houses lived in rather than stand empty. A few small jobs to do, then another sit and keep cool afternoon. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Hello all, Long time. Work n shirk here as usual Rains starting to arrive albeit slowly. Mid-term elections here only yielded a bit of fruit and less control for AMLO, not a bad result. British tourists in the news for a croc attack in Oaxaca, I feel for them, but that was stupid considering they are animal enthusiasts and should know the score there. Mangroves and swiming are not a good combination on the coast here, obviously. I hope she recovers. But, daft, very daft. All under control here in the hills of Jalisco despite a bit of rough and tough sometimes. Only yesterday a big set of Narco cars rolled past my house, nice of them to say hello to me mind as I walked down to the village to get some breakfast for me and the Mrs. Peace and quiet if you mind your own. Dirty underbelly here mind, that is for sure. Off to the coast for a week soon, Zihuatanejo and fishing calls. Hopefully a few Dorado, Sail fish and maybe even a Marlin, if we get lucky. If the rains persist, fishing conditions are good for Dorado at least. Water temp is good too ATM check out the reports - http://fishreportsixtapa.blogspot.com/ On a footballing note, I think Rose might be a good signing, but early days in this transfer window yet. I feel most deals will be done late. Hope y'all are well. ¡Saludos desde México!
Morning all. Another hot day ahead, so shade and cool drinks will be the way the day flows. I waited until after 9.00 pm yesterday to do some watering, and there is a quite different feel about the countryside as dusk approaches, about 10.00 pm at the moment. All of the wildlife seems to go into slow motion, unless you disturb a grazing deer, while the birds seem happy to search for insects on the branch where they are rather than fly around looking for richer pickings. It is a good experience to just sit quietly and take the peace of it all in. Have a good day all
Morning all. Very warm already and without a breeze it will be hot this afternoon, so I suppose I might watch some football. I was going to mention how peaceful these hot days are when everything, and everybody looks for the shade, and move around as little as possible. Proven to be wrong as the council workman has arrived with his strimmer and is cutting the verges and grass banks back again. The poor devil is cloaked from head to toe in heavy protective gear and working in the full glare of the sun. He would find a bit of shade if he worked his way along 200 metres of green lane that have become seriously overgrown and lead to my fields. No chance! Have a good day whatever your weather.
Just a footnote for anyone wondering what a strimmer might be in French. Débroussailleuse thermique is a two stroke one and the most common. Débroussailleuse électrique will tie you to your power point, or the débroussailleuse électrique sans fil that has a batterie that runs out in less time that the manufacturer suggests. Just thought you might like to know.
Morning all. Another very hot day in store for rural France, and it really is quiet today with just the one tractor going down the lane. He had his bale lifting forks on, so all of the grass that has been cut, rolled and netted or put in plastic bags will be loaded onto trailers and brought back to the barns. I am not sure that I like all of this plastic usage. Just how careful some farmers are about collecting it after use I have some doubts when I see it blowing around the fields or farmyards. Still a big game to look forward to tonight when France take on Germany. With all the build up here I do hope there are some goals. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Morning all. Very warm already and the temperature is expected to rise followed as usual when it gets this hot by storms this evening and overnight. I discovered last night that ITV has moved it's location on the satellite, and when I went to watch the football my tuned in stations had nothing. Not to worry I will watch the French channel, except the normal TF1,2 or 3 were not showing it. Having looked up the schedules, found it on one of the smaller stations M6, so relief at not having to find it on a stream. I really would like to sort my receiving box out and remove many of the channels that I don't want or have nothing on them, but apart from deleting the lot and starting again I haven't found a way to do it. An indoor job to add to the list. Have a good day everyone.
