Just on my way out of hospital....

The three pints blood loss, dizziness and racing heart were all caused by me losing blood into my gut caused by one of my meds against strokes So now i have to take another tablet with the clopadogril, which is a blood thinner .. So the tablet they give to protect me almost kills me!

My pancreas seems to have a congenital abnormality. It is not likely to be cancer. The pancreas team are going to review it tomorrow and i may have to come back for more tests.

This has all left me very weak. So i will need to rest for a while and build up my blood levels. It has all been very traumatic, I have been in three wards and barely slept for a week due to the hustle of hospital wards. I am just so happy to come out with a new lease of life....

    COYH!

Really glad to know that you are on the road to recovery Yorkie. :emoticon-0100-smile

Of course some of the more suspicious on here might think the clearing of a garden shed brought about this sudden demise. My suggestion for building up blood levels is some decent Bordeaux, although some spoil sport will probably say you shouldn't mix it with medication.

So glad that things are on the mend Yorkie - Guinness is good for the blood levels and if you want a good way of catching up on some sleep then try watching the Hornets at the moment.

At least you've got answers for the immediate problem if not a solution for the longer term. The right direction by the sounds. All the best.

A domaine owner in Savigny les Beaune who was about to retire (he was 80 something) took delight in telling group of us tasting his wine, that he'd just been to a funeral of an old friend, who was however much younger. The reason for his death was that he drank Bordeaux red, nit Burgundy red. Typical !

Morning all. A beautiful warm sunny morning in rural France today. Yesterday I wanted to print off some stamps that you buy from La Poste, but as usual I had problems with the website. It is always under maintenance, and works fitfully. Finally persuaded it that I did have an account, was using the right password and arrived at the pay now page. The bank would send a code to my mobile, but the only trouble was that my mobile had switched itself off through lack of battery. Charge up phone, La Poste website had timed me out, and by the time the phone had charged enough the code was out of date. Start again, and finally after a couple of hours I printed 10 stamps. Have a good hassle free day. <ok>

Ah , the tribulations with French bureaucracy and modern technology - they aren't really compatible. Our French bank account was created at the CA branch in Champagne Mouton, a village about 6 km from our cottage. One day, in Civray , (pretty town, lovely square , good market -even a decent cinema) about 25Km from our cottage, we decided to bob in to the CA branch to pay in a cheque, and find out if a certain payment had gone out yet. All harmless stuff. Not possible ! Why ? Mme at the counter could not get access to our account , because.... Champagne Mouton is in a different (although adjacent) departmente from Civray. This was in 2019 , not 1819 or even 1919. I wonder sometimes how the country functions at all, but then you realise that it functions because what I have just described is no surprise to anyone who is French.
And then just to completely confuse us , the traffic control furniture in France is TOTALLY consistent absolutely everywhere. It's a joy. Especially when you compare it to our complete hotchpotch of different systems ( pelican crossings, zebra crossings, toucan crossings, puffin crossings . I am NOT making this up !).

However, after the last 4 years , I wish we had been able and minded to move completely to France, and leave this wretched small-minded xenophobic country behind. Sad, but true. I was puzzled to understand why, in the 5 stages of grief at the loss of our EU membership I am stuck on anger - cannot move past it. I now realise it's because it has actually been a very slooooow death ,and it's still not quite over.
Feel free to pretend this last para. belongs in a different thread. sorry if it irritates being here.

Still, we all have WFC's blistering performances to cheer us up.... Ah .

Civray is a beautiful town, it has one of the nicest bakeries for kms around. My summer holidays have been timed around the music festival there for the last 5-6 years.

    I miss France :frown:

I can also vouch for Civray being a beautiful place, and at this time of the year it really goes to town with the festive lights. We have friends who live there and have spent some good times with them. The ancient church at one corner of the square has decorated pillars, all different, and on display is a very early example of the driving mechanism of a clock. There are several bars around the square, and at one time there must have been more scattered around the town. A good place to go and chill out.

The festival happens in the parks around the Charente, with campsites throughout. Had some amazing evenings there.

JT Bodbo I've probably met you before <laugh> Or you've probably met my parents. I know Champagne-Mouton (great name for a town <laugh>) and have a few friends that have lived there over the years.

I couldn't apply for French citizenship without declaring myself a resident there/paying taxes. Hoping to be able to weasel my way in as my Mum has dual nationality now.

    One day...

Morning all. Another lovely day with a clear blue sky, no wind and warm. Venturing out to our favourite garden centre just south of Limoges to buy our daughter something for her garden as a Christmas present. The garden is huge, and was just a part of the field behind the house before it was fenced off. She has been stocking it with shrubs and fruit trees for the past few years, but still has ample room for far more. A trip down to Limoges normally means some lunch at a bar, but they are not open, so a sandwich will have to do. Still it will be nice to see parts of the countryside that have been out of bounds for what seems like a very long time. Have a good day whatever you will be doing. <ok>

I've met a hornet in the Cafe de la Paix in Champagne Mouton. I managed to persuade Josef to hang a WFC pennant in the bar for a while - and switch on the hornets games sometimes (legally ? Not sure.)
I think it might be possible to get a Carte de Sejour still, although I am not sure if you have to actually live there. I shivered when I read 'I miss France'. We do too.

Morning all. What a change from yesterday. Blue sky then, grey and damp now. It was a lovely drive yesterday down to Limoges through the hills and along by the river when we arrived there. Being able to make the trip did give one a sense of a new freedom. The garden centre was a riot of colour with orchids, cyclamen, poinsettia and bulbs that had been forced to flower for Christmas. It seemed that we had arrived at a quiet period as they had a sign to inform you when they were busy, and there was no problem keeping a safe distance from people. Shame that the large model village with trains, ski lifts and lit up buildings had not been set up this year as I always enjoy watching the scene. Still bought what we wanted and more beside. Always the problem when we go there. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ok>

Morning all. Dry and sunny which is a decent start to the day. A lot of hammering over at the farm brought me to with a bump, then when it stopped I went back to sleep. I can only think that following the daily turmoil at WFC is very tiring. Will take it gently and see what happens next. Have a good day everyone. <ok>
