There's so much investment in housing as assets that as the housing crisis for many worsens the whole thing will collapse into another recession. Austerity isn't working and we are entering a very deep downwards spiral

The investment into houses (mainly buy to let) is a bad thing regardless of population. The lack of buildings worsens this. Therefore we should build more houses. The usage of housing as an investment relies on a shortage of housing thus getting us into a mess.
