Spent the morning setting up the final touches to my Phillips hue set up. Just need 6 ceiling lights for the kitchen and my whole house will have voice activated lighting.

The colours and ability to dim etc. Is brilliant.

I love gadgets and I'm a sucker for them. Ordered a hive thermostat to do my heating system by voice too. TV is all set up with Chromecast to Google Home so I don't need a remote anymore either.

Love it but realise the stupidity of what I'm doing too <laugh>

Does it just recognise your voice, or is it like Alexa or Siri where it recognises anybody's voice ?

Can see people like me opening people's letter boxes and ****ing around with people's settings if it's the latter <laugh>

You can add 6 voices to each device so it only recognises the set voices...

Clever though as both mine and the Mrs voice will activate our own account. So my Mrs can add an appointment using her voice and it won't affect my diary. If I say morning it'll activate my stuff. If she says morning it'll activate her stuff.

The lighting has so many options and settings. I've set a sensor on all our phones so if lights are left on they switch off when the last person leaves the house. Also if we're away I can turn my lights on remotely. Good for avoiding burglars.

Looking through the news articles about Carillion. They were the principal contractors for HS2 and they've gone into liquidation, banks looking at £2bn deficits from them popping. 20-odd thousand staff on the scrap heap.

I'm not surprised to be honest.

I'm finding that I need more Eco dots, got 2 at the moment 1 up 1 downstairs but if I'm in the kitchen there's no way either are hearing me. Might get 1 more for the hall.
