Long drive last night - rained most of the way and traffic was a pain - but now in South Wales and got a few minor tasks to do today - but slowly beginning to chill... Out for beers with he uncle and cousin on boxing day - both Liverpool fans (well of course they are - coming from Cwm Twrch in the Swansea valley) which will end with watching the match - a stunning away win at Anfield for a (hopefully) youthful and exuberant Leicester City side
In Essex for the day. Saw Mark Noble walking his dog so that’s nice. We have the same number of England caps.
Big day of trying to avoid people as much as possible and watch the football in some degree of peace. A load of her mates are coming over at 3 and none of them will be interested in playing my Talksport trivia game. Gym is closed but Puregym are doing a free 3 day guest pass. Let’s get some gains before the year is out guys x
Morning feel a tad jaded this morning . Off out with the muttt in a bit so that should clear my head .
Morning. Best time of year. Technically working today but can’t see anything happening. Gym, watch the games tonight, eat a bit.
The most predictable thing of the whole Christmas break is happening right now. My Mum due down on the train today. No trains to here, I mean why would there be, right? So I booked her to Bristol and will pick up. Engineering works though, because it all has to be done on Christmas and Boxing day and it always gets ****ed up. Sure enough, first two Bristol trains cancelled. The Manchester Piccaddilly departure board is ****ing carnage with delays and cancellations. I suggest waiting till tomorrow, she ploughs on. Her train is cancelled five minutes into her taxi journey to the station, and SHE HAS SWITCHED HER ****ING MOBILE OFF!!!! Why would anyone need a mobile phone under these circumstances? Nah, **** that, turn it off and chuck it in the handbag, that'll work.
I feel your frustration mate, my eldest brother , he's 77, collapsed in the street twice the last 12 months, taken to hospital both times but he doesn't like to take his mobile with him when he goes shopping, ffs. I call or text him most days, of course no reply for 2 days, I drive over no sign of life at his pad, call hospital, yes he's here, he hadn't got a phone and can't remember anyone's numbers, daft bastard.
I bought my old dear one of those lifeline buttons that she can press for help if she has a fall at home. It links through to a call centre and they then either call an ambulance or me. Whenever I go round there, it's sitting on the worktop in the kitchen 'Why aren't you wearing your lifeline mum' 'Oh it must have fallen off' 'It's designed not to fall off' So I'm always telling her to keep her mobile phone on her as back up. And when I try and ring her, it's switched off / run out of charge. I've got her Alexa set up so that she can just shout 'Call *****' and it will call me if she has a fall. So 3 options. When I ask her what she'd do if she had a fall at home 'Oh I dunno, I guess I'd just have to lay there until somebody came round....'
