I would ask you to come represent us plebs at my work place but they really don't care how many days we come in. Officially its been 2.5 days but i've been coming in 1 and no one gives a ****
Well yeah exactly. We do it now and I can’t speak for anyone else but for me it works. When I’m in the office I spend half my day in the gym, chatting to people about nothing, surfing BBC sport or drinking coffee. If they want to enforce that then it’s their right but we have people commuting up to 3 hours for their office days at the moment who probably will just leave and will cost money to replace, train etc. so it’s a short-sighted decision for no obvious benefit IMO.
I'm not sure all the fuss by some people about those that work from home, as long as they are productive in what they do. I think people should be able to choose what best suits their lifestyle and you will end up with a mixed bag, that you plan everything into. Some like to go to work for numerous reasons, hectic household and want the peace and quiet, or the comradery that might exist in the work place, I've even known situations where people get depressed working from home, because the social interaction is absent. Where on the otherside of the coin, it's absolute bonkers insisting people commute for 3 hours, and that can be just one way, if you work in the city - let alone the cost of that travel, that can be £5k on it's own. After covid, I heard of people negoitiating with their employers the best way forward, how many days in, how many days out, compressed hours. I thought it was one of the good things to come out of covid, rethinking the way we work, especially in an age when we are supposed to be protecting the environment, less transport required, less office space. The only ones that want you into work are control freaks, because I've not heard of cases where productivity was down because of it.
Agreed. Less congestion, less pollution, less stress, cheaper lunch, more exercise- all that ****. If I lived alone it would sometimes drive me mad but I can always go sit in a coffee shop if I want people around. There’s a very obvious agenda against it from people with large commercial property portfolios which is understandable and as a result, my least favourite ‘journalists’ are campaigning for mandatory full weeks in offices. Elon Musk has come out against it- the man owns a big car company and wants people driving cars.
Waiting for the bird to get home so i can go for a pint. Its not that i need permission its just i said id take her with me like a dickhead
