Arguing with current employer about my length of notice. Are there any consequences down the line should I choose to ignore it and leave anyway?
I spoke to a lawyer who specialises in employment law (family friend) a couple of years ago as my daughter handed her notice in and they basically said she couldn’t leave until they found a replacement! Surprisingly it’s one area where the employee has the right to do what they want. You could leave tomorrow and there’s little they can do. If they chose the legal route; paying overtime, a temporary contractor or agency worker would not be considered as an actual loss to the business and not considered relevant to any claim they might try. I’m sure there might be a few exceptions to this, but I’m guessing it’s for extremely specialised jobs which would have an impact to the business beyond money. The threat of a bad reference is BS too. Most companies now only provide a basic reference, if asked, such as job title and how long you worked there as you cannot give irrelevant information and this is a huge grey area. The only profession where it’s slightly different is if you work in the financial sector.
Sales incentive in work, 15 minutes time off work for every sale. Basically most people are **** and will get 1 or 2 a day. I'm already half day Friday.
